Although the pics of my car (at the link in my sig file) show the car with splash's, I've since taken them off of the back b/c from the back you can see the tires better. Left them on in the front to protect the doors from flying stuff.
For those who can't decide, this may be an option.

MUD FLAPS? I assume you mean Splash Guards....
I see MUD FLAPS on Tractor Trailors and Off road 4X4's.
Splash Guards aer quite a different story...
I voted NO to MUD FLAPS.. I just can't see anyone with "Back Off" or Yosemitie Sam on some rummer flaps... However, the Splash guards don't look all that bad...

Personally I love my splash guards! They really do help. IMO go for it whats the worst that can happen you spend a few extra bucks and then decide u dont like them and take them off anyway?
I think my splash guards really help here in Pittsburgh, like Jersey.........the roads are horrible........I feel like I am dodging potholes all day long. And the construction and loose gravel, I will leave them on. Here is a pic of mine, not a great pic but you get the idea.
oddly enough, no gaurds here, but I have not had a single rock chip from front or rear tire kicking up rocks. thats with 5000miles. my last car a truck, had the problem before and after I put on spash gaurds, and yes they were splash gaurds not mud flaps. they were ridgid form design.

If you take them off.. has anybody seen any paint damge to the car when they were removed?.. I have them but would like to remove them... at least the back ones.

Here's what it looks like with just the fronts on.
