Default different performance with differing brands of gasoline?

does it matter what brand of gasoline you use (without regard to octane)?

my friend says his car works better (mpg) with shell than cheaper generic ones. anyone here notice any difference?

I have found that some car run better with different gas. I have not had my 350 long enough to find the best gas for it but my 330i runs best on BP and Citgo but gets very low mpg on Sam's and Union76.

All gas stations get their gas from like three suplliers nationwide, and they are rarely consistent with whom they chose. Most gas stations have essenailly the same gas, only the store, and prices are different.

...ok so I saw this on History Channel's Modern Marvels at 4 in the afternoon on a "sick day," but at least its factual.

Yeah, if there were differences, i would think they are too small to really matter.
