Hatch Storage Space Question
ManishBoy, your concern for space is very valid. The prospect of any trip of several days with wife and necessary cargo is distressing. Space is simply inadequate. I also considered waiting for the G35C but had to have immediate gradification. Now that the G35C is here, I would prefer it for the useable space reason.
Looks like if you smoosh it, a big suitcase might slide under the bar. Mine is 12 inches laying on its back, but would probably cram through there even if it wouldn't sit in the back under the glass.
This is the second time Scaf has provided us with hatch measurements... he just used a golf bag last time. Everyone knows that golf bags are used for all scientific measurements that demand the ultimate in precision measurement technology.
Looks like the old picture I unearthed from the archive was a couple inches off. I would have offered to do the same thing, but I'm still awaiting delivery. Thanks Jeff!

Scafremon, you out did your self again!
Could you do it all over in the metric system?
What, nobody remembers the tooth picks in the model test?
And what about the "Fitted Luggage" Nissan option I read about when I pre-ordered...........B....Z.
Anyone remember waiting for the "Canadian Auto Show Z Color Tubes" to download? My cable link took 8 frigging hours!!!!
Yah, still waiting....................................................: (
And, obviously, I've gone NUTS
Back to the question, find a traveling companion (is that PC enough?) that WILL travel Light.

I absolutely agree that availabel storage space is a reasonable question
Any sports cars that I would consider has to meet the "golf holiday test."
That is to say that the car needs to hold 2 golf bags, 2 reasonably sized suitcases (although I use a duffel, which is more flexible) and one smaller bag
The Z does meet this criteria. As with the last sports car I had, you need to remove the woods from the bags to get them in. This is NOT a problem.
I actually took my golf bag with me to the dealership and tested the fit before I signed on the dotted line (although I don't see as many dotted lines as I used to. Solid lines seem to have taken over)
FORE!!!

You should have no problem, I think both should lay flat with no problem. However if there is a size problem the suitcase in the front of the strut can be put in at an angle kinda laying against the back of the rear speaker panel.

2 golf bags
2 suitcases
2 people
In a Z
Not if you plan on viewing out the back window, better wear a helmet also to keep the suitcases from knocking you unconscious.
My wife, pet "Gloria" and I had no problems and we were gone for a whole week in the Z. It was really quick moving into and out of different hotel and motel rooms with such limited luggage.
Caution: use great care at spots with valet parking. You should have seen those young guy's droolling when I pulled up in my Z.

I was very surprised to find out that I can fit fairly large suitcase under strutbar. like biggest on that bicture

and then some small stuff around it. I'd call it more than just overnight capacity.

I'd get some soft sided luggage or duffel bags - you should have plenty of room this way. There's enough room but it's not exactely square and if you have hard sided luggage it might not fit.
Thanks for the continued response. My suitcases are all soft sided stuff. I think my big garment bag on wheels would probably fit in front of the strut bar, from the pics.
Now, if I can throw my jumper cables and various other stuff down with the spare and not have them rattle, I think I can probably get by with the space. Of course, cables aren't a necessity, but I always carry them and have used them quite a bit (and only once for me).
Just wish that strut bar hadn't been quite so massive
I like the idea, but the execution is tough.

You bring up a related issue Mannishboy; I understand the performance advantage of the strut brace...and I do not know exactly what it looks like under all that plastic, but have seen aftermarket strut braces for other vehicles and am wondering why the Z's is so damn big/thick? Couldn't this performance plus have been achieved without killing so much storage space? I'm sure it's a senseless debate, but am wondering if anyone knows the logical reason that it is the way it is?
