Question service manual - torque settings ..

does anyone have a copy of the service manual?

Or have information on the torque settings for the bolts / disasembly. My brother is going to help me install Tien S-Tech springs this weekend and he asked me for this information.

There are quite a few torque settings you have to worry about.... Let me see if I can gather them for you...Before you start your installation, make sure you head to Nissan and get the replacement nuts for the strut caps. They are self-locking and have to be replaced after removal.

Ok,
This should get most of them...Sorry if I miss any. All numbers are ft-lbs.

Front:
Strut Tower Brace Adjustment Nuts: 47-59
Strut Tower Brace Bolts/Nut: 18-23
Strut Tower Mounting Nuts (the 3 at the top): 26-30
Strut Tower Cap Retaining Nut: 40-47 (this is the one you have to replace)
Lower Strut Attachment Nut: 52-62
Sway-bar link Bolt/Nut: 59-70

Rear:

Lower Link Outer Nut: 48-59 (Manual says this one gets replaced, too)

Note these directions for removal/install of the STB:

REMOVAL
1. Fix center bolt, and then loosen nut in the right and left side.
2. Loosen center bolt to the direction in the figure on 660 (Or turn
bolt 1.7 times) to place the silver mark of center bolt above.
3. Remove tower bar fixing bolts and nuts, and remove tower bar from vehicle with power tool.

INSTALLATION
1. Install tower bar and tighten at the specified torque.
NOTE:
If it is hard to install tower bar, install it turning center bolt.
2. Tighten center bolt to the direction in the figure on 660 (Or turn
bolt 1.7 times) to place the black mark of center bolt above.
NOTE:
The space between tower bar and engine collector should be
between 10.0 mm (0.394 in) and 17.0 mm (0.669 in).

Also, be careful with the wheel speed sensors cables. You don't want something to fall on those and damage the sensors.

One more note...You may have to compress the front springs to get the strut assembly off the car. Even then, it's going to be tight. I actually had to get someone to stand on one of the wheel lugs to push the susp. arm down far enough to get the lower strut fork clear of the arm.

Good luck.
