Default Does your Z have vin nbr etched on glass

For those of you who have received your Zs did it come with the vin number etched on the glass for security? My 300zx came with it that way from factory but my dealer says I will have to pay for it on the 350Z however he has not had a Z arrive yet so not sure he really knows what is on the car.

VIN etching is one of those things a dealer typically does and then rapes the consumer for way more that it cost them to have done.

For me, it was an option I declined. The cost was about $250 and included the VIN etching and some accessory form of insurance. VIN etching can be a DIY and a kit only costs about $20. The dealer admitted that to me. Basically, you're paying for extra insurance, which doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Basically, no it's not standard.

It's probably a ripoff.

My dealer put it on my car for free. I asked about the cost and i was told that nissan wanted to put it on all their "higher end" cars.

Thanks for the info . I went to Auto Etch inc. on line and will buy the kit for 19.95 instead of paying the dealer 250.00. What a rip-off!!

PERMAPLATE, I think that is when the dealer etches your checkbook and then your paint job.

the dealer tried to screw me with that. but i told them ill goto another dealer if they make me get it. i wouldnt want it even if they gave it to me free. it looks so ugly. as it is it already has some kinda etching in the window. and even if you tint your window it doesnt fade it. it makes it show even more

The dealer asked if i wanted it i said NO. The next day he said it was done and i would have to pay for it i said no. VIN etching is one of those things a dealer typically does and then rapes the consumer for way more that it cost them to have done, 327 dollars! I went to check the car and noticed that the etching was only done with a greese pencil, which wiped off. Good thing i did not pay for it.

Refuse to pay for it, i did.
The deal went through as promised.
