High Treadlife Tires
Hey guys... I've owned my Z for a little over a year now and have gone through two sets of tires. The stockers lasted about 15k miles but that was due to alignment probs causing inside of tires to wear really fast. My 2nd set, that is currently on the car, is wearing perfectly even but they are already bald after about 10k miles (Falken Azenis ST115).
I just seems really strange to me as I have really calmed down with the 2nd set and yet they still wore out faster than the stock potenzas which I thrashed daily. I need a higher treadlife tire, I cannot afford to buy new tires so often. I want something that lasts around 30k miles and wont blow up if I go 100 mph on the highway. Any suggestions?

Before you buy tires next look at the tread wear rating, the lower the number the faster they wear. the stock Potenzas have a rating of 140, my toyos T1s have a rating of 280 and I think they will last for about 10k so look for something in the range of 300's

I have definetly been checking the treadwear ratings. The thing is you cant compare the tradeware of say a Kumho tire vs that of a Bridgestone. Each manufacturer makes their own numbers when it comes to treadwear, comparing their lowest mileage tire to the others. I was just hoping someone had personal exp on a high treadwear tire that lasted them like 30k miles. Honestly, I dont really care about super grip as long as it lasts I am happy also it should be a high mph rated tire.

I like low treadwear #'s.
Means softer tire, which means better grip in all condtions to include rain (assuming everything else being equal)

i am at 16xxx and my rears in need of replacement. fronts are fine because they are the new ones put on by nissan TSB at 12k.
i would never mix/match tires so i am gonna buy rear set of OE potenza re040s (i dont like these tires and would rather not buy them) and hopefully all 4 of them will be needing replacement later at approximiately same time.
then i will go with yoko es100. decent tires, will last longer than the 040s. as much as i like sticky tires with auto-x'ings and all, i cannot spend $$$$$ every 6 months to replace tires.

Looking at your sig I can see why you go through tires so fast. I think I am going to go with Kumho as they are fairly cheap and I have heard some good things about them. Grip is really not an issue as long as the tire isn't bald i'm happy, I will just buy some grippy tires fo rthe front to keep it in control! :P

I had some of these on my Ws6 T/A and they had a great tread life. Good dry traction, so so wet traction. I had the 275/40x17s and they were about $125 each. Also had some Kumhos and they had better wet traction but did not last as long.

I used to run Dunlop SP8000s on my Z32, purchased two sets and got well over 30k both times...I want to say 40k'ish. But I didn't drive it *****-out all the time.
After my OE tires died on my '03 350Z (like yours, mostly due to the jacked-up alignment...or lack thereof) I again went with Dunlops from my past experience. Couldn't find the 8000s in the size I wanted (F: 245/40/18 and R: 255/40/18), so I went with SP9000s. I currently have about 10k on 'em and they are wearing great. And here's the best part...Dunlop gives the SP9000s a higher wear rating than the 8000s.
