Default Rare Sand Storm in Malibu Screwed Me: Help!!

Went through a high wind storm the other day in malibu. I remember seeing the beach sand fly accross the road and heard it hit the car. After looking at the front end, i now have thousands of little sand imprints in my bumper, headlights and windshield. I'm sooooo pissed. Any advice. Can i get the sand dots color sanded out, or do i have to repaint it all? Also, any way to polish out the nicks in the headlights??
Thank you!

I can't imagine that it hit hard enough to penetrate the clear coat. Take it to a body shop and have them buff it out for you and it should look fine. As for the headlights, you may just be screwed, not sure.

Can you post a picture? How fast were you going when you were hit? I have a hard time imagining the sand can cause such damage. May be you can do an insurance claim?

Ever heard of sandblasting? Can do some serious damage. Depends on how hard the wind was blowing and what kind of sand it was (the nice soft stuff that squeaks or the stuff that feels like little rocks).

Sand can be really nasty stuff. I installed a bunch of chrome parts on my goldwing, and of course the first weekend I went out on it was to Death Valley and I got caught in a sand storm. The chrome parts weren't very shiney after that.

A good body shop should be able to evaluate the damage and recommend repairs.

just got it evaluated. I made a claim with the insurance. I only pay $500 and they are going to replace the windshield, bumber, and headlights. They all got screwed up. It was beach sand, that blew accross the road on a very windy day, i remember it hitting the car and thinking oh shi-.

Sorry to hear about ur car. I live in Saudi and I know how it is like to go through a sand storm. A sand storm could really ruin your paint. What I normally do if it is a very bad storm, I would just simply park my car and take a cap. That is a lot cheaper.

They cover hail damage...

Which would that not also be considered as such?

Lived in the Desert most of my life... Trust me sand storms can hammer car paint... It's covered by car insurance but expect to see your premium jump up next year

This guy who used to work for us, drove home one day in a brand new mazda he just bought, he had to drive thru a nasty sand storm, when he got home, half his car was still black and the other half was primer grey from the sand stripping the paint off... was brutal...
