How big is the spare tire?

It has a donut spare. You can see it here: https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/979-pics-of-various-details.html
A full size spare on a sports car is kind of silly because it adds weight.

I don't think that was his question JDZ..or at least not how I took it...it can still be donut and accomodate the 17-18" rim.
Funny thing is...audi S4 comes with FULL-SIZE spare with an extra RIM...M3 just what they call their M Mobility Kit...which is German for , your butt be walking.

Yeah..forgive my ignorance...but wouldnt it need to be a skinny 17 or 18" What other choice would you have? Oh wait! That's right...some of those donuts come with a very cheap and very ugly black steel rim....ick! Just pray you never have a flat...

Yep, the photo seems to show a steel rim painted black but it's hard to guess the diameter. You won't look too stylish rolling on 3 Ray's wheels and a 14" donut spare. Better take it straight to the tire shop when you get a flat.
Edit: Looks like the 145/90R16 spare will have about the same overall diameter as a 235/50R17 but will only be a little more than half the width. That won't look as bad as the small diameter spares but still probably can't go over 50mph with it.

I hope that I never get a flat...I'll have to have a couple extra tires lying around just in case of this
After having a boyfriend that couldn't change a tire, a VERY important checkmark for the next guy is to be able to change a tire
(and my oil, and clean the car)...Nah, just kidding.
But it would be nice...

Well, a 90 aspect-ratio tire sounds darn skinny to me. You'd have to run a calculation to figure if the diameter is the same as the normal tire, but I would hazard a guess that if you burnt out the LSD from a spare that Nissan provided they'd replace it or there'd be a big product liability lawsuit. With as many lawyers are there are out there making lawsuits about everything, I don't think its too much concern.
When I looked at the tire I thought it was a pretty reasonable spare and more substantial than many of the donut spares you see out there.

I just hope whatever size the spare is that it is the same diameter as the rear tires. I don't want to get a flat on the rear and have to use the spare and end up burning up the LSD!

Imagine two pieces of bread... Sliding one over the other is relatively easy unless you put them together with peanut butter in which case the viscosity applies shear stresses to each piece and they slide together more like an individual unit.

a quick thought.
If the spare tire is 16'' rim, it would have to fit over the calipers for the 17'' and 18''.
Keeping that inmind, i remember someone saying that the rays barely fit over the calipers. So the track model would ahve to come with a larger diameter tire. Right?
Or, would nissan just make two different spare tires? One fore the 17'' and one for the 18''

Offset allows a 16" wheel on there. Being that it's so skinny, it won't hug the rotor like a wider wheel so it can be made small and not contact the caliper. Think of the spare as a disk and the regular wheel as a bucket that slides over the rotor and bolts to the lugs at the bottom of the bucket. The track model may come with a larger spare or maybe no spare at all.

SPARE: 667.4 mm (26.3")
17" (F): 656.4 mm (25.8")
17" (B): 666.8 mm (26.3")
18" (F): 659.7 mm (26.0")
18" (B): 677.7 mm (26.7")
I don't know much about the effects of different diameters on LSD and such, but I'm sure these are within the limits of normal variation...you probably lose a half inch off your tires diameter over it's life from wear alone...
