Unhappy Countdown

Nissan added 20 days to the countdown! What is up with that? Have they hit some snags?

That s*cks!

What exactly was this the countdown to? The first Z hitting the streets?

I would call the 20 days a MAJOR disappointment. Not that I care that much about 20 days (although I do) but to me it shows that some problem has popped up. The Z is not the first car Nissan has ever introduced, one would thing they would know how long it would take to get the car ready. All well -- as our resident Yoda says -- I would rather have the car good than fast. But I am concerned that this is evidence of some sort of problem Nissan is having.

I personally don't put much faith in the "countdown" if you're talking about the one on Nissan's FutureZ web page. Seems odd to me that they would convey delivery/launch date using a small area of an obscure web page. If they were keeping that close tabs on it for the public, why wouldn't they put the number of days til launch in GIANT LETTERS on nissandriven.com?

If they added a few horsepower or fixed a few things like the reportedly flimsy door on the Nav compartment, the extra 20 days is no big deal as far as I'm concerned. I can handle the extra wait as long as any delays are communicated.

Let me tell you guys something - you may not know it, but you would MUCH MUCH RATHER WAIT 20 extra days, then have a product shipped out with a known flaw in it.

In the software business, it's all about delivery date vs number of bugs. Any piece of software you ever buy, it could have been better - but somebody insisted that it hit the shelves by a specific date. Because of that date, a certain # of bugs, known issues, and other bad things are in the product. This holds true for any complex system - there are going to be issues, and the debate between the bean counters and the engineers is always the same - what is an "acceptable" level of refinement to get it out the door?

I would rather wait an extra 3 months, then think that my car could have been better made or more thoroughly tested.

Hey VQracer,

Just saw you hit 500 posts. I recalled you had 300+ last week when we discussed other topic. You may hit 5000 before you have to go back to school. Don't worry, I work full time and have no intention to keep up with you.

Maybe ZISME or RxO can clarify the situation...

I don't think ZISME is on this forum though..
