i met up with slexis200 last weekend, we have the same problem, i didn't even realize my problem until that day, and i had my car for 2 month. i though all of the Z shift like that but i tried on another its was so smooth compare to mine. if you are not sure if you have the same problem, its a good idea to try on some one else's Z.

oh and the whine that comes from the tranny is normal. i talked to a rep today that was talkin about that. he said the closer the ratio of the gears, the higer pitch it will make, as with racing trannys. my maxima actually has that sound, its not prevalent w/ autos as far as i know.
