Should I do 15,000 mile maintenance?
I'm close to the 15,000 mile mark and I was looking over what the maintenance consists of and i'm not sure if it's worth it. It's an oil change which i'll definately have done. Then change of air filter but I have an aftermarket oiled filter. We don't have the micro filter (I don't think) and Z's can't get tire rotations. So what's the 150 bucks for?

all you need is oil change and 4 wheel alignment. You might consider changing the transmission and differential fluid also (eventhough they are rated as "lifetime" by Nissan)

scheduled maintenence at the dealer is a total rip-off. there are other places you can go if you don't know much about cars. have the things they do is visually inspect. probably the biggest money maker for them though.

(If would not hurt if the mechanic doing the work is ASE)

I got the 15,000 service... don't waste your money. here's what they did...
change air filter...whoopdidoo..could of done that myself.
check the differential and transmission fluid...could of done that myself.(@15000 chances are that the fluids are fine).
Check my brakes. (rear brakes were 50% worn. Front were 80% worn.) They quoted me 240 just for the parts. I think I'll swap out the pads myself. besides i'm thinking of upgrading my whole braking system.
all this cost me 150 ... at least i have lifetime oil/filter change. I think i'll get my oil changed every 2months to get my money back..heehee

It's a scam. They give you a big checklist of things they "supposedly did" at the end to justify their crazy price but the fact is most of that stuff took maybe 5 minutes of their time.
Not that hard to check all fluids, change air filter, or even brakes...

A family member is a very experienced Infinity tech (worked at Nissan for years). He states that the G35/350z was engineered to be as maintenance free as possible.
He told me this: Just change your oil and air filter.
