I just realized I haven't been putting links in; for the others, go to the build your own section, put in DB enthusiast, no options, plug in the zip code, and go to the dealer I've listed. should be there.

I"ve called a few dealers and the car was already gone.
very true, but it's at least worth checking out, as you have found. Best of luck. I would reccomend trying to get them to fax you that quote on letterhead before you buy the plane ticket; it would suck to get up there and find the price has gone up.

I checked Orlando and Jacksonville with no luck. I would get zipcodes of big cities and try them. New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and such.

Were those last two that you found both blue manual enthusiasts? I saw you had asked if I would like an auto, so that is why I ask. I do NOT want an auto. The other options I suppose are negotiable.

Do you think it would be rude of me to ask the owner when he calls me back tomorrow to possibly throw in a nismo cat back or other nismo parts to "make good on it" as he worded it?

It is not rude to ask for things to "make good" based on the situtation. Sounds like he is not making much money off you the first place. He is just trying to keep the good faith. Therefore, he is not likely to pay money to buy you any Nismo parts. I would suggest that you ask for things that does not cost him hard cash, like oil changes, service credits, service loaners, etc.

Ask him for a set of track wheels or Nismo wheels.

Specifically I have also been pondering another point that I had brought up, the rising interest rates. Is there any chance he'd be willing to lock me in on the current rate or possibly go for a better rate since this delay could easily allow for the Fed to raise the rate an additional quarter point between now and then?

Although he will not spend money to "make good" on the deal, he will likely give you accessories/options at dealer costs. That NISMO catback starting to sound like a good idea eh?

If you waited that long try and wait a little longer. The cars are delievered by rail sometimes. They could flat bed it but it would cost too much money. They would rather get your car and the rest on their inventory at the same time.

As far as making it good, maybe have them cover all oil changes for as long as you have the car (every 3000miles). Something along those lines. It seems they are giving you a good deal.

You should purchase through your credit union or bank, that way you know you get the lowest interest rate. The dealer does make money off of the interest rates they "sell", I mean give you.

yeah, my criterion was Blue Enthusiast 6mt; I figured that in the worst case most everything else would be negotiable. There are PLENTY of 5AT's out there, and a decent number of Enth 6MT's in yellow, red or black.

What I did was bring up the USPS zip code search page, by city. Then I plugged in the names of cities in the middle of the US, and used a Zip from there to do a 100-mile dealer search on the Nissan site. If I remember right, I got these cities covered:
Dallas, Fort Worth, Denver, Nashville, Mobile, Birmingham, Tulsa, Ok city, Little Rock, Indianapolis, and a couple of others I can't remember

I also plugged in a bunch of random zip codes which got me other areas, like the KY/OH border area, a few different areas of MO (but maybe not Ks. city...) parts of Minnesota, West Virginia, West Texas (that's where Waco is, yeah?), some part of Montana (not much up there).

if nothing else, it was a great geography lesson

I didn't do any searches in LA or Mississippi, I figured you probably already have that covered.

I had been out of the office today on a meeting and had no time to really check the forum until now. I unfortunatly only have time to reply briefly as I'm preparing for my Cisco IPT, Cvoice, and CCSP exams. I'll check into those other VINS tomorrow. I'll also report what the owner says, as he did NOT call me back today as he said he would...figures.
