Default Options for 2004 Z

What changes do you think Nissan will or should make to the Z in the 2004 model year and beyond?

I'll start:

1. Offer yellow
2. Offer two-tone seats
3. Aluminum Parking Brake
4. XM Radio

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm trying to kill time. Just think of it this way, some of the new stuff could be purchased for our cars from the local Nissan parts dept.

Remember, they are watching...

1. yellow! yellow!
2. larger (not too much larger) spoiler out back
3. get rid of the rectangular back-up/side blinkers on the rear 3/4 butt!
4. more aluminum trim on the inside
5. make that "z" on the front fender into a vent, kinda like how they made the "z" sign into a vent on the original 240z second year.

yay!

Default I would have liked their to be a green choice.

Preferably British Racing Green, but they could call it whatever they want. I would have chosen that color this year, I think.

Default Yellow and Green

Yes, I have to agree that I could have gone for a British Racing Green Z. If the tellow one looked like that VQ's top photoshop pic, I definitely could have gone for it too.

I have a yellow Jeep already so that's enough for me.

I'll take MP3 hold the XM please (until it takes off atleast)
Also, SMG (like that's gonna happen)
Maybe a little light forced induction. Power increase of 75-100 peak hp would be nice but not too much or the Z's tail will be trying to overtake it's nose whenever you hit the go pedal.

I would like to see them succeed with the platform and continue to evolve it in little ways.

Maybe improve the F/R weight balance a bit (transmission in the back maybe?) and focus on the ride height and suspension. I'd like to see the NISMO division step up with a set of adjustable coilovers for track use (made by Bilstein, or someone of equal quality reputation) and perhaps get enough sold that tire manufacturers build tires that will meet the height of the tire requirements (26.7 rear, 26 front).

A nice 18" front, 17" rear setup for open track racing would be nice with plenty of room inside the fenders for a 10" rear wheel.

I'd like to see it become a real track car. Then they can throw an electric-assited single turbo for 350+ rwhp and we'll start seeing some real fun.

Improve Storage area by redesigning the rear strut brace. Provide a Targa top or T-top option.
Provide a sun roof.
XM Radio
Redesign the current antenna

Default AWD

I would love for it to have AWD too. My dad's Eagle Talon does, and man that thing goes through snow like it isn't even there. For those that live in winter states, having a 4x4 sports car is fantastic. The looks I used to get driving that Talon through the snow when other people were stuck was priceless!

That being said, I'm currently in a mostly snow-free area, so what do I care!

All these options are what priced the 300ZX beyond the normal person's reach and almost sent Nissan packing.

I say welcome back Nissan and I would just take a cool Z key like the ZX had.

I'm sticking by the suggestion for the MP3 player. They don't cost anymore than a regular cd player in the grand scheme.

As far as AWD, Super HICAS, night vision, etc. etc.

No way...... Too much $$$ and you don't need that stuff anyway!

People! The 350Z is designed to be a back to basics, fairly cheap sports car, with the emphasis on sports. They didn't design it to be a luxury cruiser or an exotic. It's not meant to have a bunch of gadgets that don't help it go faster. Keep in mind what happened to the original Z series. It started out with a simple premise, a 2 door car with good performance, and eventually became a 2 door twin turbo with a billion technological extras. This was great, but the result was that the price ballooned to the $50,000 range. Now, having remembered how nobody was interested in that expensive a car, Nissan has returned to the original concept. Let's hope they keep the car fairly simple, and fairly cheap! Gadgets are what the aftermarket is for.
