Those damn ladder vans. I get it often on my way home to work. After they cut me off they strain their poor engine to stay in front of me in the fast lane, and then when I finally get around them they drop back down to 60mph. I really don't get it, maybe we should hunt down the ladder van message board and see what the deal is

I'm from Jersey City but you've moved to upstated NY? Yeah near the city everyone has a SUV or Big midsize sedan or very small compact car. One of the reasons why not to live in a huge city or surrounding areas.

This morning coming to work I merged from one freeway to another and this guy in an old beat up red toyota something-or-other pickup with black iron rails (no ladder) throws a fit when he sees me coming. He, for no apparent reason, floors it and swerves in between like 4-5 cars just to prove, I suppose, that his truck can beat my Z. I really trip out on people like that. Whevever I see a Ferrari or other exotic I do my best to stay ALONGSIDE them and appreciate their car. So I don't understand what these people are thinking whatsoever. The funny thing is, it happens all the time. My advice is to just try and ignore them...

ive noticed "ricers" look at me and try to keep up or pass me even tho when im just driving normally..

then i noticed lately, mustangs and porche drivers like to drive by my side or kinda follow...

i also noticed alot of looks people give me, example when i pull up to the gas station.. if there is a fine chick there, she looks and smiles...usually also older guys look and have this look like they want to come up and ask me something or just give me this warm comment..

i love it when i pull up next to someone at a redlight and from the corner of my eye i can tell they turn their heads and stare at my z.. i have 5% all around so like at night time when i notice this i just stare back at them lol...

i love the reactions i get, i turn alot of heads..

Can you really typify driver’s behavior by the vehicle they drive?

I also drive a 460cid 4x4, lifted 6” with 38” tires. Its fun to drive it in the swamp, snow, rocks, and hill climbs (Detroit Lockers front and rear). Unfortunately, sometimes I don’t see (on the streets) smaller cars and bikes. I’d never purposely cut them off or hassle them.

I have noticed JEALOUSY expressed by other drivers when I’m in the –Z-. Hell, I’m afraid to park it and leave it in ANY parking lot.

I think JEALOUSY is one of the worse human emotions that exist.

I've had numerous good experiences with people complimenting the car but have not, knock on wood, had a single negative experience to date.

I get lots of looks, more so now that i have the wheels on. I'm only 22 and for some reason people seem to think this is like a really expensive car, and I guess some of them can be a little pricey. So i'm sure I get some looks wondering what i'm doing in a nice car. I used to drive my parents Z-3 every once in a while when i was a junior and senior in HS so i'm used to that kind of thing. Besides that i've only really had one negative experience.
I'm pretty sure it was due to the RSR exhaust without silencers being in and that fact that i'm young. I was just off campus my senior year of college (last year) and i was out driving and someone threw a glass beer bottle at my car that left a couple dents.

I do get lots of good looks and waves. Actually had someone pull up next to me going about 55mph the other night and they rolled down their window (it was dark out so i wouldn't have seen then with their window up) and gave me a thumbs up.

...and i thought it was my imagination

when i first got my Z, i noticed that there were alot more cars "taking off" from the light when it turned green, or speeding up when i try to pass them, or speeding up to pass ME......

i drive normally, i figure it makes them madder if i don't play their game.....

When I got the Z I was shocked by all the complements I was getting. When I would go into parking lots and get out people would say 'nice car' or something if they were close by. It was a real trip b/c this is the first nice car I have ever owned.

I think it gets more attention b/c the styling. The looks of the car is very universal, teenagers to 40somethings like the look. It also gets attention b/c of exclusiveness. Even if you see alot of them every Z is fast. Its not like "hey is that an evo... no its a OZ lancer" or "is that a cobra!!! no its a v6 stang"... there is no slow Z.

Ha, I get lots of responses here in the Midwest....most people still have NO clue what kind of car it is. Invariably at fast food drive-up windows I get a "whoa, nice car man" from the teenager at the cash register. In a city of 25,000 mine is the only Z I have seen. Mostly just pickup trucks and Grand Ams around here. LOL

An old lady that I know came in my office and said, "My gawd, did you see that ugly blue spaceage thing across the street?" She didn't know it was my car. I laughed and laughed.

What an elitist *******. I was one of the first kids on
the block to drive a Z - I got my DB touring in October of 02. I loved it, and people loved the car. Sometimes, back in those days before they became a dime a dozen, I felt like I was driving the Bat-mobile.

To make a long story short, I don't have a college education, nor do I drive a white van with a ladder on top.

I drive a tarmac black 03 EVO, and I'll smoke your *** on the track, on the drag strip, and at "Jeopardy", too.

I guess having your nose so far in the air is how you manage to breathe while you're in that bath-tub Z, huh?

All baiting/trolling aside - I loved the Z - the shifting is far slicker than the EVO, (before I put the B&M short-shifter in, anyway) and the body looks better... but please, man - don't be such a snob.

No, I was born and raised in upstate NY. I lived in Jersey City and currently reside in Bayonne.

The Z doesn't look as cheap (relative to more exotics) as really is. For me, they look at the car, but I ALWAYS see them look at the front wheels / brake area. It must be the Brembos ... I even get M3 owners and stuff looking.

This is ONE reason among MANY that I'll NEVER move to the Midwest....I just can't deal with the John Deere mentality....I'd shoot myself.....LOL
