Default how other drivers react to you and your Z

My other car is black Nissan Pick-up, and I find that when I drive the truck, drivers are generally very polite to me. Or, maybe they are afraid of me In any event, I rarely have any kind of "road rage" incidents.

When I drive my Z, there are the occasional sports cars that like to follow me, and often others in luxury cars might blink to merge in front of me, or park beside me, thinking perhaps that they like to be by another nice car since they figure I'll be concerned about not damaging either car, who knows.

However, I've also noticed that when I drive the Z it seems that the typical "white van with a ladder on the roof" seems to think I'm the enemy. (And yes, these are different vans, not the same one I've had white vans with ladders on the roof cut me off, race me, blast their horns becuase I didn't totally re-route to go around them, ect. I think when they see the Z they think something like "Die yuppie scum" and commence their attack plan.

Am I going crazy or has anyone else noticed anything like this?

If I had to drive a white van with a ladder, I would be pissed off at a guy driving such a sweet ride as a Z too hehehehe

Hahaha, I've had a white van with a ladder give me the bird when I was passing him once. I usually notice that some drivers (especially younger drivers) will speed up to keep even with me, so they can prove their camry or alero is sporty.

No you're not going crazy. People are always racing ahead of me at lights, cutting me off etc... Its ok though. I'm not the one driving a beat up dodge caravan. The best example of this was when I saw some crazy fat lady in a beat up old Nissan Micra swerving from lane to lane so that a ferarri 360 modena couldn't pass her...that was until a 3rd lane opened up and I got to hear that sweet exhaust at full throttle.

I notice if Im cruising in the middle lane doing 70 (limit is 60) people still cant handle being behind me, they gotta pull out and cut ahead say 2 cars or something. I noticed in general whenever theres a pack of cars, no one likes to be at the "back" even if technically everyones going way over the limit..why is this? At any rate Im usually the last car in any pack bcus I refuse to engage in this stupid behaviour

I totally agree. I have a truck too for winter but just the other day I was in my Z at a light. Some big *** redneck guy in a truck decides he wanted to switch to the left hand land. He looked way to close to the rear of my car so I pulled up a little. Then he pulls up to left hand side and asks "what my f*ckin problem"?? I'm like dude, your an idiot! Just go away. Man this guy was so damn pissed but for no reason.

But if I was stuck in a white van with a latter on the top I'd probably hate guys in sweet 350Z's too....lol

Usually the last one in the pack gets pulled over if everyone is going fast. It's called Darwinism, proven time and time again on National Geographic.

Worse when you own a Hummer H2. Try www.fuh2.com.

Although Z's do look nice, they are a midpriced 25,000-38,000 mid performance sports coupe. There are many better cars out there. I wouldn't understand why people would react that way to this car. Of course when I'm out driving I pull up alongside every Mustang I see, but then again I used to do that in my Camaro SS. Ford must die.

Before I had any type of "sports car", I drove a 93 Lexus GS300 (a Honda Civic EX actually can beat this thing). I would get annoyed when Bimmers, Nissans, Hondas, Toyotas, <insert any car that looks fast here> would drive a little slower than I usually would (I don't drive very fast, but to drive slower than me was bellow the "traffic" speed limit). I wouldn't cut people off, but ride their bumper than pass them about 2 cars and change into their lanes. My philosphy was to prod the underachieving driver into changing to a slower lane or hopefully they get the idea they are going too damn slow and need to speed up (or at least drive it like a sports car).

Now that I drive a Nissan Z, I have to watch out for drivers like me. However, I get an increased problem of people boxing me in just to stare at my car (It's Ultra Yellow).

Driving to work this morning some blue eclipse with a crappy exhaust was trying really hard to be me. i wasn't even doing 3500 RPM's and this guy was wailing to get past me. He was going so fast he ended up slamming his brakes to stop because of the car in front of him. Some people just don't get it. Especially at 5:15am. I was lucky enough to be awake let alone try and whip up on some nasty eclipse.

In oregon and more-so in Washington state the things you all are describing happen all the time to almost anyone with a car nicer than the other persons,,, I know because im a truck driver and i see EVERYTHING all the time heheh, i troll allong in the right lane and watch the rest of the drivers for entertainment value

luckily most people dont even try to mess with me (28 wheeler)
the only way i can me messed with is by people stopping / slowing fast in front of me, could restult in them becoming a pancake!

its quite fun going from one of the biggest things on the road to one of the smallest and best looking hehehehe

You might think so, but where I come from, the Z would be a rare find. Not only is it redneck country (upstate NY) but I'm sure the average salary there isn't enough to afford a home, feed a family, AND have a nice car like the Z. Plus everyone just wants to drive an SUV or pickup there.

There may be "better" cars, but I don't think there are many "better looking" cars. Plus, in the northeast you don't see many of them, so most people aren't even sure what they are or how much they cost... they just know they look exotic.

Anyway... I've had the same experiences on the road with the white vans, etc. -- but I also have another observation.

When I roll up to a toll booth in my beat 91 honda, I usually get a nice "good morning," "how ya doing?" or "have a nice day."

I roll up in my Z and I get 1 of 3 reactions.

1. Women do a double-take and smile.
2. Younger guys make some nice comment about the car, ask a question or something.
3. Older guys give me a shitty look and toss my change back at me.

I really need to get one of those SpeedPasses :-)

Good reactions from everyone except rednecks. With them it seems your manhood is measured by the size of your body lift or the size of your swamper tires. And they always seem to think they`re faster.

OMG...LOL ...Dude...get an E-Z Pass....I hate those anti-social, borderline psychotic toll booth trolls. I guess I'd be f*ckin' loony too, if If my work space consisted of a rectangular box..LOL ...HAHHAHAHHA

I like pulling up to a four way intersection and just look around to see how many eyes I have on my car. This thing is like eye-candy to their eyes. I have 5% tint on all of my windows including the visor strip. At the same time I'm like I see you but you can't see me....lol. I see you checking my ride out huh?...lmao This car amazes me too espically when I see another one on the highway or at the same intersection. The car looks futuristic and there's not another that even comes close to duplicating the fine and beautiful sexy lines of the Z's!
