I can only think of keeping copies of your tickets, I would think 5 to 10 tickets from the same cop would warrant harassment. You would probably have to file a civil law suit on this one. However, like everyone suggested, file a complaint report and stable copies of all the tickets, before taking any legal action.
An alternative is finding a certified shop/police department to do a dB test on the stock and injen exhaust . I would think that injen would have a slightly higher tone and you wouldn't have much ammo in keeping that exhaust on.

Yep, same thing happened up here in Reston, VA, my wife was pulled over in our 3.5 Altima with Stillen exhaust. Cop said the exhaust wasn't legal for street use and wanted to know if someone else installed it, she explained that I installed it, that we've never been pulled over before for this problem and in fact our Nissan Dealership sells Altimas right off the showroom floor with Stillen Exhausts, Intakes and huge Stillen logos (Mike Pallone Nissan). The cop seemed baffeled that she knew so much and told her to look into it further and let her go...she called Stillen the same night and they said that our combination of Injen CAI and Stillen exhaust was not loud enough to exceed VA state db limits (but Stillen Headers, race pipe and Exhaust would be illegal) they have all the db charts on file and will send them if needed for court....no need now, but we could get pulled over again, so we're prepared!

O yeah, also, she told the cop that the car had just passed VA state emissions testing and safety two weeks prior, the cop was speechless and then tried to say that means nothing...even though the receipt they give you after you pass has a VA STATE POLICE logo on the top of it...can you get anymore inconsistent.

That's quite a system down there in VB, when a cop's ears determine the decibel limit. Can they give you a speeding ticket because you looked like you were traveling too fast?

yea, its ALL MESSED UP here! i looked through the books, there is NO db limit here though? it only states "louder than factory" is illegal. you never see the mustang guys on the side of the road for it though. stock for stock those are MUCH louder!?!? i have always liked the look of the nismo exhaust. i just hate to give up the sound, looks, weight, and PERFORMANCE of my injen!!!

Go to your local performance shop and get some silencers. You won't have to change your exhaust, and it will keep down the noise. Just ask the guy who works there to help you find the right size.
