Default inside info. from a saleman

My work is like 2 mins away from the dealer that I bought my car. so today at lunch, I stopped by the dealer to give them the survey and get free tank of gas. The dealer didn't have 93 octane, so this saleman(not the same saleman i dealed with at the time of purchasing my car) asked me to drive him to an outside gas station to fill up my tank; he's a super cool old man;in his 50's On the way to the gas station, we had a little chit chat, and the infamous tire feathering problem arose. I asked him what's going on with the issue; has it been fixed yet. He told me Nissan has been trying to resolve the issue, but appearently they can't come up with a solution. He said all the models have the tire feathering problems; it just some cars come up much later in its life. but eventually it wil surface. just wanna let you guys know, and be prepared. I am all bummed now. i am gonna go grab a beer. My work is so cool, I can drink at work. Loving it.

Get the toe-in straightened out and the problem goes away. That's the whole story.

First I thought he was trying to bs me, but then again. why? you know, he's an old man; in his late 50's or so, old ppl don't lie, or do they? let say he lied, then wouldn't he be saying good things about Nissan instead of negative things about a product that's he's selling?? well i am crossing my fingers, hoping for the best. if my tires get feathered, i'll contact Boeing, and see if i can purchase a pair front tires for my Z. oh yeah baby...My Z can fly, only it has one of those ricer wings. Boeing here i come....

he is lieing because he wants to feel important

(this post is a good example of just that, do i really know why he told you that? no, I am lieing just to feel important but my lie is based on some facts and based on me drawing conclusions and making assumptions) If you didn't have the internet like he doesn't you may have believed him and felt better about it because he made it sound like everyone had the same problem

believing tire feathering is common to every car makes you feel better, ...kinda like special ed. or special olympics makes special people feel better about their handicap...you don't see them throwing a handicapped person in the pool with the regular guys do you?

-edit, please don't get any sick ideas and throw someone with a handicap into the river. thats not my point here.

unfortunately thats not the whole story. but a big part. fixing the toe-in will delay the feathering but wont fix it in and of itself. trust me. it will come back!!!!!

I had the toe-in straightened, re-aligned, cross-rotated fronts, etc..., and lo and behold, tire feathering again 10K miles later.

10k miles on a set of tires in a car like a z is good if you ask me...if you want 20-30k on a set of tires buy a sentra. I go through tires on my stang in 15k rotating them

Hmmm, I will agree to an extent. A salesman educated fully on the Nissan line is tough to come by in most places. I myself am having a hell of a time getting familiar with the new Frontier at this point. Its not easy to work with 100 different people per month, deliver 20 cars, follow up, handle heat and learn new product. Which Nissan has a lot of new product in the last 2 model years.

Will they warranty the tire feathering if I put Track Wheels/OEM tires on?

Probably (you seem to have an '03 see warranty), but your track OEM tires won't be feathered (your aftermarket ones will be), so when they do the measuring, it won't show anything. Thus, they won't do anything, because there's nothing wrong (with your OEM tires at least).

At least that's the way I see it.

- ('03 owner with aftermarket wheels and tires, feathering of OEM just before purchase)

My solution is to simply roast a set of tires every summer - no time for feathering to appear.

Kumho MX 245/40 are only ~$137 each @ TireRack.

You missed the key reason you got feathering over and over again. You stayed with the Potenzas instead of getting a better wearing tire.
