Question To Las Vegas Owners, Service Q

My husband and I could probably change the oil ourselfs, but are there any members here in Las Vegas who know which dealers service center is ok for scheduled maintenance/tuneup etc? I know they all suck for buying cars and such, but what about their service centers?

We know Dougles reeks, but what about Planet,United or
Desert?

Thanks

Leslie, did you guys buy the Z in Vegas? We're moving there in Feb and will be getting a Z (probably in March)...just want to know how the Nissan Dealerships are in Vegas--or may be going to SOCAL.
Thanks!

Edit: pls disregard...did not see your other thread! So do you suggest going straight out of town (e.g. Performance)?

Yes I would recommend going to Performance Nissan. PM Jason from PN here or call and ask for Ken or David in fleet sales.

Good luck. And welcome to Vegas

Thanks! If you find a good service center in Vegas, please share (as we'll be looking for one pretty soon)

So...do you split two 8s at the Blackjack tables?

Yes, you split 8s unless the dealer is showing 9 or better, in that case just hit it.

I've had good luck with Prestige Infiniti's service center, I checked around for prices at Desert and United Nissan for prices when I wanted to get my transmission flushed. The Nissan dealers wanted to overcharge me big time. I got the best deal at Prestige, but I did buy the car there and that no doubt plays a factor.

Yes we'll be sure to do that, tho it looks like we'll be going back to PN for any major service. I see alot of Z's driving around here tho, there must be more members on this board, who live in vegas? Anyone else?

let us know if you find anything too.

Roneski, I agree buying car from them would probably get, better service and such.

I have had problems with Desert and Douglas. I haven't tried anyone else, but my next service will be at Planet Nissan. Welcome to Vegas by the way. There is a Z club if you are interested. It is called Sin City Z Club. Not too many 350s, but a couple. We are meeting tomorrow (Wed.) at Desert Nissan @ 6:30pm. You are more than welcome to come. PM me if you want any more info on Vegas or Sin City Z.

Leslie - As far as Planet Nissan goes, I don't plan on going there anytime soon. The car is perfect as of now so no need for service. I did buy my car here, but I bought used through a non-Nissan dealer.

Thanks all for the info and good hear that there are many Z's in Vegas! If things go as planned, expect to see another DB Z driving around in the near future (March?)--will definitely look into the Z Club!

I hope to find a reasonable deal in Vegas as I'm not looking to drive many hours to SOCAL just to buy a car.

Also, can anyone recommend good places for tinting and audio installation? Nothing crazy, just your "standard" tint and a nice HU...may be upgraded alarm. What's the legal tint percentage in Vegas?

Thanks!

Its just 3hrs away but seriously tho, we thought the same at one time, but if you do decide to buy local be very wary, or you could be taken to the cleaners, check the dealer addons for the ole" Desert Protection" $2000+ for what you might call Armor all IMO dont think they did a thing.

A year ago the internet guy at peoples mazda had a whole explantion or reason on why they have to charge it, hilarious.

We've (and mostly everyone we know agree, we know some who have even been insulted) been to all nissan and infiniti dealers in town, excluding the newer planet ( tho planet hyundai has a pretty bad rep) and they try all the old school selling tactics, and we only dealt with the fleet mgrs too.

The other manufactures arent so different either *sigh*makes you wonder how they stay in buisness.

Dont know about tint % but you'd be surprised what you see on the roads here, and I think mbonannionce and roneski would concur, cars with NO hoods, fenders, bumpers(alot of those), mufflers, windows, windshields. And also smoking cars galore (smog check???)and not to mention spare tire riding city.

Once even saw a trans am with tints on the front windshield And most times the cops go right by them without a second glance.

Opps sorry for rambling. But anyway tell us it how it goes when you do whatever you do

Mbonannionce, we wont doing any service for awhile either, just picked it up last thursday. It would be nice if there were at least one good local service center.

pdn - Hope you end up getting your Z. The website for the Sin City Z Club is www.sincityz.org but it is rarely updated. As far as tint...cops don't care. It gets too hot here to care. I have limo and 20% on my 70 Chevelle with no problems. My dad also had a Jeep Wrangler with the windshield tinted and had no problems. I can also help you with your car stereo stuff. The best place in town, by far, is Ultimate Electronics on Rainbow and Alta. If you are going to purchase from there talk to Clifford King, for installation go with Corey. He does an awesome job. He is repeatedly ranked one of the top 10 installers in the tri-state area. Apparently he was the first person who figured out how to make an aftermarket HU work with a stock navigation system. He also did my Z's stereo system (pics and info on www.mikeythekidlv.com). I know that you aren't going for anything crazy, but if you want the best job and the cleanest work, go with Corey. The number there is 258-8800. Good luck.

Just thought I would offer up a warning about Desert Nissan. It was the worst buying experience ever. I don't care to relive it right now. I don't know why I even went through with it. I guess the Z just had a hold of me. I had my Z in for repair almost every week since I drove it off the lot for a period of a month or so. They could never get it right. So there you have it, horrible sales experience, horrible service.

Mike: appreciate the useful info on the stereo shop--Ultimate Electronics it will be then. By the way, nice looking Z, man! Is the HU capable of playing mp3s from DVD-/+R?

harrjar: thanks for sharing your experience with Desert Nissan! Yeah, I guess you can say that the Z has gotten a hold of me too.

I WILL get the Z, the question is how painful the whole experience will be. Has anyone heard of http://www.new-nissans.com? According to the site, they sell the Zs for $500 under invoice and also deliver (for a fee). I just don't know anyone who's used their services.

Leslie: did you guys drive to Performance Nissan or is there an airport near by we can fly into? I know, it's not THAT far away but if we had our choice, we'd rather not even leave the house to buy the car !

Thanks all for your friendly advices and hope to be joing your ranks soon!

Airports? Pasadena or Ontario mabey? Sorry, but if and when we do fly in its either to Lax or JW in Orange county. But most times we just drive on over, less things to deal with etc.. you always waste 2hrs for a 1hr flight, too darn long, rent a car etc.

We did everything over the phone and fax with the fleet guys, never deal with a salesman . Then drove down and picked it up, so we could check out the car and such, before signing, you could probably have it delivered to you for a fee.

We were also looking for a G35c, delivered would have been about 300+ or something like that.

Give PN a call or PM Tony or Jason here and they'll fill ya in. We drove over because we like to know what were buying first and we go there frequently anyway, family and stuff so were used to it. nothing really, nice short ride.

Yes, hope to see u guys in your new ride soon.

Thanks for the compliments, and yes it does pretty much everything. I think you can even hook up an IPod to it.

United Nissan's service dept. is okay, but old and crowded. They fixed a clunk in the suspension when I first got the car, but they scratched up the track wheels in the process.

The service manager at Desert Nissan is a psycho. I mean it.......he's got a screw loose.

Planet Nissan replaced my driver side window motor, and I had to bring it back twice for them to get it right, but they did finally fix it. Their shop is new, and that's where I will take mine if I ever need Nissan service again.

I have a stereo installer named Eric Nail. This guy is the best I've ever seen. He works on his own and part-time at Las Vegas Auto Sound. He's done flawless work on all my cars. He's the only one I'd ever let touch my Z.

ZZtopp: thanks for the rundown on the local service departments and info on the stereo installer! (Definitely have to bookmark this thread for later reference)

Does anyone have a car PC in their Z (in Vegas)--or know someone who does? I've been toying with the idea but am concerned with the heat there in the summer. Anyway, thanks all for being helpful!

I think that the heat would be a big problem unless the PC had some sort of fan. Especially if you have to park your car for an hour or more at a time outside.
