Nissan IPOD integration?
I recently just bought a 20 gig ipod, and I would love to use it with my Z. I've heard a lot of negative feedback regarding the iTrip and Belkin FM transmitters, so I do not want to resort with that option. Recently, I went to the apple website, and I found under the iPod accesories section, "Nissan iPod integration solutions available later this year." Does anybody have any confirmation or anything they know regarding this information?
BTW I ran a search on this topic and could not find the exact answer.
Thank you.

Nissan just announced that it will have factory iPOD integration starting 05. So that would be your best bet. I am waiting for this also. BMW was the first car company to do this, and now Volvo, Nissan, Scion, and Benz is following.

Subject: iPod + Nissan 350Z
Hi Tom,
We at https://my350z.com are wondering about the application of iPod
integration with Nissan, specifically with regard to the incomparable
350Z. What can you tell us about this, or else whom can we contact
for more information?
Thank you,

Yeah, well then again, any 'true' audio enthusiast will end up replacing the stock sound system either way and you can bet that their iPod integration is going to require the premium bose system or the bose headunit at least. So much for aftermarket headunits/amps/subs/speakers -- if you want the 'factory integrated' look then you'll have to suffer what everyone complains about being the 'crappy' bose quality.

I upgraded my HU to an Alpine 9835 with ipod interface and it has worked out great. Another option to consider for you Z+iPod owners. You plug in the ipod with a single cable that charges the ipod and provides the interface and you have access to all of your songs, albums and playlists through the headunit (including showing song, artist, album info in the HU display). Very nice.

Agreed. Go with the alpine interface. Me on the other hand, I prefer to use the click-wheel on the iPod directly, so I went with a headunit that has auxilary inputs and connected my iPod directly that way. With a single cable, my iPod becomes charged and is digitally connected to my headunit for excellant sound quality.

On the other hand, check this out:

I saw it at Mac World today. Very cool. It has the click-wheel on the GUI:

I have an iPod 40 and the FM transmitter. I have to admit the quality is not the best, but it is the best bang for your buck for people who don't care as much for audio quality. Since it lets you broadcast to any FM frequency its a lot of fun to mess with other people's radios at red lights
