2.5 month old 2005 350z and already the floormat is toast!
So we finally have a sunny day in so. cal. so I wash and vacuum the z and what to I find? Premature wear on the floormat. Damn, this is not bodding well for the floormats. I have big patches of clearcut portions of the driver's side floormat where my heel would be between the throttle pedal and the brake pedal. I wear very benign rubber soled Cole Haans, not Max Max combat boots. Vehicle was purchased on 10/30/04 and now I need new floormats. I am hoping the warranty will cover this. Anyone else experience this premature wear?
I believe I have had that, but my car is 2 years old. To fix it yourself just goto the quater machine car wash.
1. Vacum mats, esp the area.
2. Take mat into wash area using the hooks they should have on the wall to hold up your mats.
3. Use high pressure soap, and clean mats well (esp spot).
4. Use high pressure rinse, starting from the top corner working your way down.
5. Put mats in trunk
6. Let dry in sun light, and that should fix it.
I do this occaisionally just to clean my mats off.

What happens a lot of the time is people get into there car with the bottom of the shoes being somewhat wet, this makes the floor mat slightly wet and then with the heel of your shoe moving around the mat will wear out prematurely.... I live in the desert and I easily get 2 years out of my mats.. If you live in a wet city like seattle, best to get non carpet mats.
i alway just buy the cheap rubber ones and put them over the stock mats, or take the stock mats out and keep them nice.
the cheap rubber ones take most of the abuse, and you can get ones that are raised up and actually hold the dirt. ugly, but effective

I think I am going to try to find some all-season floormats for the Z. The carpeted ones seem pretty weak. This is the first time in 17 years of driving that I have had a floormat wear out so fast.
I wear deisel shoes, and some dress Kenneth Coles, I notcied after a good two week straight driving after I got my 05 that there was already wear, where my heel is on the gas, and slight where I shift the clutch....
