Default '05 Track model -- any problems?

I'm flying high because after months and months of looking for the right used track model Z in the northeast of the country, I finally decided to suck it up and order an '05 track.. I have been told it will show up in the next few days, and I was wondering if anyone has received a track yet, and if so whether they have had any probs., and if you can feel the alleged extra HP..

In any event, I can't wait to get into the discussions once my Z shows up, as its been a few years since I sold my 300ZX TT, and I'll looking forward to resuming the fun of Z ownership.. I'll be researching the intake, exhaust, fi.... choices soon!

You won't feel the extra HP, you would be more likely to feel the loss of torque. I haven't seen an 05 track on the boards yet.

Someone pointed out to me that there isn't as much peak tq as the previous models, but the torque curve is broader than the previous one.

I have yet to see actual numbers, but I really doubt its either much faster or slower than the previous iteration.

BTW, when did you order your Track model?

05 track models have the 300hp VQ35DE engine right??? SCC said the 35 anniversary model will have 300hp 287lbs ft tq
The Redline goes up to 7000rpms and they call it the Rev up model. It'll be faster then all other models FOR SURE. Especially when it matters, the highway.

Default couple days ago...

I ordered the vehicle through carsdirect.com. It was actually a great deal, and their local affiliated dealership informed that the car is "on the truck"..

Hopefully they aren't blowing smoke, but so far the deal has proceeded flawlessly.. I am tentatively giving the carsdirect option a strong recommendation (once the vehicle is actually in my driveway, I'll finalize the recommendation).

I would like to see a stock dyno of the 300hp 350Z. So I can compare the graphs of a 287hp 350Z, and tell weather or not there was actually any power increase.

I am looking not at peak power/torque numbers, but where it counts area under the curve.

Once the vehicle shows up, I'm going to try to use it as much as the weather allows for work and fun to try to get through the break-in period.. Once that is done, I suppose a dyno pre-mod is in order.. I'm sure someone else will beat me to it though.

Problem with my plan to get through the break in quickly though is that we've had basically a snowless winter so far in my immediate area, and I'm sure that's going to end soon and I'll be stuck in the SUV..

Why wouldn't you feel the 13hp?

It's enough to edge out a 287 hp Z if the drivers are the same.

Plus the 7K redline is awesome. It's wierd shifting at 6.5.

i wonder how the ECU is different - obviously something is different to allow you to rev to 7000. Maybe that's the only difference though...

I'm curious just how exactly they changed the intake/exhaust valves - and did they change the rods or crankshaft to let you safely rev to 7000? or are they the same?

Less PEAK torque mean nothing...
The new torque power band is more flat and with the increased redline it will help GREATLY for racing.

The higher RPM and increase HP will let it edge out FOR SURE. Wasn't there a threat about the technical aspects of having some extra RPM because of how you get some more time in the lower gear (higher driveline ratio) and that equates to faster? I'm not very good at that stuff, but I'm one of the ones that bets its faster. I wish I could have waited for an 05 Track, but I got such a good deal .. And OEM nav doesn't seem to be available on the new one.

Which is why I will hopefully end up with an '05 Track model.

More peak HP means nothing cause you don't use that in every day driving. You show me 2 graphs back to back and show me where an 05 has a broader torque band.

The broader torque band is a quote from Nissan performance mag. which makes perfect since. It is the Z's 35 year. Why don't you believe they would make it the best Z ever? Nissan performance also said something about 310hp instead of 300hp like SCC said. We won't know anything for sure for a little while but I would bet some serious money that it will be faster.

After mine is broken in I will have it dynoed, so we can compare with the 287hp motor.

Out of curiousity, why are you under the impression that the 300 hp version of the motor will have a less favorable torque curve? Are you basing it on information that you read / know or just speculating?

Its all speculation now. I was just going by numbers. 300hp to 287hp, etc.
