00' Supercharged GT or 350Z
I was talking to this guy who owns a dealership who told me they got a 00' Supercharged Mustang GT. It has a bigger V-8 with a supercharger. They dynoed it at 600hp!!!!!!! The car has a brand new transmission with aftermarket parts to handle the power. The problem is that it is an automatic. I am going to test drive it tomorrow. They said that they will give me $3000 and the Stang for the Z. My Z has 10,500 miles and the Stang has 19,000. Should I do it?

What do you want? A car that will run 11's in a straight line or slice up twisties?
If it were me, I would never do it. Z looks better, probably handles better (I don't think the Mustang's even have an independent rear-suspension, though I could be wrong), and no warranty if you blow the engine up. Oh, and being auto is poo.
My .02.

i could never afford a new cobra mustang no matter how long i save my money. i don't really care too much how it handles compared to what it can do it a straight line. I much more of a drag guy then an autocrosser. I just don't like the fact that it is an automatic.

i was never a fan of mustang, the z looks much better and will DEFFINETLY handle better in the twisties than the mustang, and also think of resale value down the road, a mustang even w/ all the high performace parts isn't going to sell for as much as your z and especially considering its a 2000 w/ more miles on the z anyway.Just my opinion, but if you want i guess for it.....

If you're a drag kind of guy, then I think this 'stang has your name written all over it. Even though slush boxes aren't as much fun, your launches will be much more consistent than with a manual. I don't think I would trade my Z in for it, but since you're more of a drag race kind of guy, then by all means GO FOR IT! This car will be a monster at the drag strip.

If your in to looks and style etc. stick with the Z. After a month or so you'll wish you had the Z back! There are just to many stangs on the road. Every light and corner you turn is a ford.
Good luck!

Makes me wonder why a dealership is willing to give away a modified mustang with 3k for the 350z... Makes me think something is wrong with the mustang and the dealer knows it would be easier to sell the 350z... Just my thoughts..

I was thinking the same thing, thats awfully generous for a dealership.

00 Mustangs are selling around $10,000. THAT'S WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE STANG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buy yourself a stock GT, and dump $6000 into it, and you'll SAVE $10,000.
Or............................ you can give me $15,000, I will kick you in the nuts, .......................and we'll call it a day.
At least you'll get to keep the Z. :-)
Seriously, if you go for it, you will be throwing away money and getting raped in the process.

personaly I would never buy a used car that was already modified, especially with FI. Anyone who modifys his/her car is going to hammer it from time to time, otherwise why would they modify it? Also why would someone spend the money to modify the Mustang then turn around and trade it in with such low miles... Makes no sense unless they knew a weakness about the Car and they decided to take a loss and get out of it before something happens that would cost a lot of money to fix...
I would pass on that deal....

The new SVT will be able to handle..trust me. The cheif designer of svt who was behind the new design of the mustang, said they are making an overall appeal to the car in performance. Not just straight line.

GET A COBRA!!! if you get a mod GT the value will suck... OO and a gt that is pushin 600 and only runnin 11's is crap... my friend has a 2004 gt, we've put a vortech s trim in it with slicks and a built rear end, clutch. He is pushin 425 to the wheels and is running 11's... I have another friend that has a 2003 cobra with a whipple supercharger on it and a 8.8 solid rear end kicking out 640 to the wheels and he is layin down 9 second passes... So if this stang is really pushin 600 to the wheels then thats cool but has to be running faster unless it is having traction problems or something. If it was a built transmission for a stang that is an automatic it is probably the C4 transmission which is widely used. Just becareful, "600hp" compared to a 250hp car is totally different and can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

There are 2 things I am worried about. One that the automatic will become boring quickly. Most importantly, 2, the reliability down the road. My parents had a new Crown Vic back in 96. The car's computer sparked and started a fire. It burnt my garage, the car, and the other car in the garage. Ever since then I havn't trusted Fords. Right now, I am gonna keep the Z. Unless the Stang is extremely fun. I am gonna stick with the Z.

It's a WIN-WIN for the dealer.
Man with friends like that.....
2. The stang interior wreaks of FORD "quality", so that's another minus.
3. There must be 400000000000 Stangs on the road.
4. If you really want straight-line, get the new 05 Stang, and get a crate engine 1-2 years down the line.
