Default base model= less traction on road?

hi guys, I have a base and I can never fully step on the gas pedal on anygears from 1st to 3rd, because It will spin out and start wanting to fishtail.
Is it just base model that does this or other models too? ifso, What makes base do this? what should I do to fix this besides better tires? Is this where traction control and Lsd takes a role that base model do not have?
thanks guys
John

Base model does not have the TCS (Traction Control System), VDC, or LSD, so yes. The Base model will be a little more slippery on launches.

So basically its harder to launch from a stop the base than the other models?? I heard that u can drift with the base much better than the models with the VDC...is this true?

It depends. With the push of a button, you can disable the TCS and VDC on the higher models, which is what most people do when they are at the strip or the track.

It may be a little more difficult to launch with the Base, seeing as it does not have an LSD, TCS, or VDC, but I would imagine its not that much.

By not having an LSD, TCS, or VDC... wouldn't the car be less "safe" compared to the other models? If so, that really sucks that the base doesn't have those extra goodies.

Safe is also in the ability of the driver. If the driver behaves his or herself on the open roads and doesn't get the car into the situation that it needs to use the TCS or VDC, it isn't a problem.

The whole idea of the Base though is just to offer the car to those who may not want/need/or be able to afford all the bells and whistles that is offered and still have a great all around car.

"that really sucks that the base doesn't have those extra goodies."

It does have all the extra goodies; its called the Enthusiast.

Given what you get for an extra 2 Gs or so, I don't understand why so many people get the Base.

You cant drift without a properly set LSD. Well you can I guess but not right. Yes the car would be a better drift car without VDC, and an Nismo adj. LSD.

I dont drift, but I am pretty sure I am right.

If you live in a hot climate area, you propaly don't need all those goodies. I'm from Saint Petersburg, FL, basically it's hot all year round. So I don't really need the TCS, VDC, or LSD. Yeah sure, it's nice to have them. Just think about a decade ago, cars didn't have all these goodies, and were the drivers in any more danger than we are now? I personally don't think so. About the price, if one can afford a 25K plus car, I am sure one can spend an extra 2K if really wants to.

yes....

alot of people turn off VDC or TCS before they race and some keep it off all the time. I turn it off some but not very often.

TCS has saved me more times than I like to admit... but if I was just a better driver it wouldn't be a problem. With my TCS off I fish tail and spin a little from a start if I push it too hard... I am hoping new tires that are wider will help this a little.

yep, TCS rocks. During regular driving it helps make sure you get the power to the ground without losing traction. In the snow the other day though I had to turn it off because I was slipping and sliding so bad the TCS damn near shut the engine off.....I actually needed to get the wheels spinning just to keep my *** from sliding into parked cars. I love RWD but MAN does it suck when we get a rare snow here in the south.

I am already used to spin outs. But I was wondering what could make it not spin out as much you know.
and for the LSD's....are these hard to install? how much does a normal shop charge to install this? or Can I install this myself?
thanks guys
John.

I have a base, it's alot about the drive. I didn't have any of these options on any of my cars before, don't need them now.
Sure it would be nice, but if you can drive and control you car you will be fine.

Get better tires, the stock tires are horrible. Possible get a LSD, it's the only thing I'm thinking of getting myself.

Shrug the 350Z sucks as far as rear traction on stock tires. I have an 04 Touring and I found that my 01 Camaro SS was much better at putting power to the wheels. What did help my *** end from slipping out was an adjustable rear sway bar (put on stiffest/firmest setting Hotchkis) and aftermarket tires and rims 275 wide. That put enough weight and strength on the rear end but the car feels heavier and less responsive but that throttle response is being absorbed by the rear end better. Not sure if this makes sense to you but the feeling is almost like my BMW 530i. It was only 225 HP but it did 0-60 in 6.7 sec. BMW's suspension is so good that it makes most aftermarket suspensions laughable.
