Default Question about air recirculation and A/C

Hello all,

I just purchased a new 2005 6mt Enthusiast, and I'm loving it. Is there any way to turn on the Air recirculation and not have the air conditioner turn on. The owner's manual states "When the air recirculation mode is selected with the A/C indicator off while the fan control dial is in the AUTO position, the air conditioner will turn on." This suggests that the A/C should only come on if the fan control dial is in the AUTO position, but I have put the fan control in the other settings, and the A/C still comes on. When I manually turn off the A/C, it always goes back into the Fresh air mode.

I dont know if this answers your question but I thought when you have it set to AUTO, it sets the temperature to whatever you have selected on the center dial, which may turn on the a/c if the cabin temperature is higher than what it is set to

Well, what I'm trying to do is have the ventilation in recirculate mode without the A/C coming on so I'm deliberately not using the AUTO mode.

I never noticed my a/c come on when I set it to recirculate. When you say the a/c turns on, do you actually feel the cold air coming from the vents or are you talking about the light that comes on in the right dial?

Yes, the A/C light comes on and you can feel the air turn colder. If I turn off the A/C, the vent goes back to fresh air mode and doesn't stay on recirculate.

I noticed that also when I first got my Z. I don't think there's any way around that (at least in my experience) It seems crazy that you can't recirc the air without the A/C

I'm unaware of any way to get around it. I noticed it too but you just have to get used to how the a/c & heat works. Apparently Nissan wants you to always use the A/C and then just use the temp dial to adjust for comfort. Nice idea in theory, but in practice it's really lame.
