Default Insurance question

Why is it that my 6 month quote for a 04 350Z touring model is $890 and a quote for a 05 Corvette is $570? The insurance company said it's because the Corvette is an American car and the 350Z is a foreign car. Is this just a big load of crap or is it just me? Thanks everyone

there are more factors that play into it than the foreign vs domestic factors. Things like, repair costs and # of accidents reported by type of car, etc play into the cost as well.

Insurance Companies rate cars by "symbols" the higher the symbol number the more your insurance costs. I would ask my agent what symbol is given for each car. Make sure comp/collision are the same on each quote. The vette may have a lower number. I kind of doubt its much lower though. My policy hardly went up coming from a truck. But like I said just ask what symbol each vehicle is and then you'll know.

The fact is that the average age of Z owners is probably late 20's, whereas for the Vette, it's probably mid-40's, so the chance they will have to pay out repair costs is probably much higher with the Z.

It is simply the symbol rating....My wife runs an insurance agency. The factors used to determine symbols are kept secret. Who knows exactly how they come up with their number? Do a google on vehicle insurance symbols....
