Default Tire feathering again - 2003

After much haggling with Performance Nissan of Duarte, CA, I got them to replace my front tires.

For those of you who didn't know, after 20K miles, you start paying a pro-rata share for the tires depending on how many miles your car has.
Under 20K = 100% covered
20K-21K = 90% covered
21K-22K = 80% covered
and so on until you hit 30K miles, where you cover 100% of the tire replacement.

I didn't know this and thought the TSB extended the warranty on 2003 models to 2 years/24 months. I had a few miles over 22K and ended up paying 20% of the cost of tires (which by Nissan's Jungle Math, the tires cost 470 for the fronts). Who in their right mind would pay $470 for these POS Bridgestones. But, seeing as how I only paid $94 dollars for both, it seemed like a good deal.

To make a long story short, I never noticed how loud the sound in the car was until I got the 2 new fronts. So quiet now. But I know that will only last for a few thousand miles til it starts sounding like a semi-truck.

Also, for all those 2004 and 2005 models that no doubt will experience the feathering at one point, start voicing those complaints and get the tire warranty extended.

No thanks. I don't care if they are free or not, I wouldn't stick another set of Shitenzas on my OEM wheels.

I went to a dealership about the feathering problem and they told me you have to get the Z re-aline(sp) every 12 k miles so you won't get the front tires chewed out.

Every car should have an alignment at least every 10,000 miles or at least twice a year.

There are many class action lawsuits against Nissan regarding tire feathering. I advise you do join if you are experiencing the problem. Read more at www.nissantireproblems.com. Nissan is not taking care of us and are avoiding the fact that they have a design flaw, aka, lemon! Also, check out the thread in this forum under tires for more info.

Man give it a rest. I just checked and every one of your posts since October have been either about tire "feathering" or you selling your 350Z obviously because you don't like "feathering".
