So does the Mobil-1 filter fit in this category. Some say use the OEM filter. Thoughts?

i drive my z hard all the time and have to add oil prolly every two wks, but my garage floor is clean, so i guess i am not leaking but burning?

Not likely but is possible that as the cylinder walls expand from the heat oil can blowby in to the combustion chamber once again not likely but possible.

Whoever that tech is, I would totally call his stupid bluff. I would ask him for some documentation or where he's getting his info from. Or ask another tech if that statement is true. Man some tech people get away with this crap with a lot of women and some men. It's BS if you ask me. Oh and if he can't prove to you where he got his info from, shove some synthetic up his you know what. I'm not in a good mood with nissan techs and service advisors as you can tell. Sorry!

You should tell the tech that most over the popular counter "synthetics" (except Mobil 1) in the US are Group III Hydrocracked based...so they aren't really synthetic (PAO or Ester) at all.

I have been running PAO based oil for 20,000+ miles in my Z..no problem.

Anyone have a recommendation on regular oil brand for a first oil change....I'm going with either a K&N filter or a Mobil 1 filter and probably Valvoline unless I hear otherwise from you guys...

Thanks,

RV

BTW, Great info Kray-Z

Mobil one is a good choice. Really it doesn't matter all of the oils perform so close to one another your paying the extra money for marketing.
Without seeing a UOA or VOA of the oil you'll be using i would recommend using whatever you feel like.

Without a true baseline and numbers. Which oil is the best? If you can answer that without any proof you must be god.

Go with mobil one or something with a PAO base. Its a true synthetic if your thrifty and want something decent and better than dino oil go with castrol or supetech full synthetic.
