Default Exploring my options

Currently a promotion is in the horizon. The Z has never left my mind. However, this promotion will demand everyday commuting to different locations everyday within my work schedule. From what I read, the Z is horrible in the snow (i'd equip it with snow tires, but still I haven't heard any confidence lifting stories about the snow and Z's). So i'm starting to glance around and I remember getting blown past a 04+ Maxima and almost getting pulled over while doing so. So I decided tonight to look at one online and it seems it has the same engine as the Z? The VQ v6? I'm just curious, would a Maxima be a more convenient, and more price worthy contender? I assume if the engines are the same it'll be mod friendly. But i'm curious how does it drive and handle compared to the Z? Your thoughts are very appreciated! I'm just curious how a Maxima is, compared to the Z. God willing it doesn't have the almighty Feathering problem as well as the lists of bs you guys have listed on the Z (which might I add, scares me away from the Z, because with this job and its driving demands, i don't have time to be stuck in dealerships replacing tires and transmissions)

Get a G35x, if you're looking for good snow. Don't get that ugly bloated Z (Maxima).

Well its funny you say that, the G35 was my other choice I was looking into. Though, I absolutely loved the coupe. Unfortunately I cannot justify spending that kind of money on a vehicle like that. In my humble opinion, coming from an outside perspect (and tight wallet) its alot to pay for a small car that yes, does come with AWD but still I could get something domestic but in SUV form atleast. Look at it from a bang for the buck perspective, thats the way I sorta see it.

Now if i'm going to be traveling around in an executives uniform with baggage of electronics hunkering around from location to location, I might as well do it in a stylish 4 door with bulk? I don't know, i'm just attempting to come up with different points I guess. Maxima's still up there in price as well.

I'd say you should get the 05 Subaru Legacy AWD. Maxima is nice but AWD is what you need to really get around in the snow.

To tell you the truth..the g35 sedan is the better bang for the buck if you're comparing it to a Z.

But don't get me wrong guy's, I don't live in Alaska. I live in Michigan. It snows, and when it snows, its usually a pain in the azz to drive in, but I don't need a "anything goes" vehicle. Just something that'd do better than the Z, cause apparently RWD+light weight=hell in winter time and I don't need that kind of hazard while traveling through out the dreadful 6 months of stupid, cold, depressing michigan winter.

You think so? Its not the same engine is it? For some reason it doesn't sound the same as the G coupe or Z. I thought the interior for the G35 Sedan was beautiful with lots of headroom, very elegant. Last time I rode in one was a while ago and I was very impressed with it. I can only imagine how the AWD version goes. But the front end looks sorta blah...I think the local dealer had a body kit installed because it was the only sedan that I thought had some sex appeal (to me atleast)

It must have been like a stock front bumper kit or oem replacement cause it was delicious. I can't seem to find anything on it however. And I know the price tag was WAY up there for it as well.

Question though, will the Z/G Coupe exhaust setups work for the G35 Sedan as well? Or would I have to get a custom setup on my own? I really liked the sound of the Nismo or Borla.

Yep, I would have to say G35x would fit your bill.... True you can get a SUV, but SUV's with the same equipment as the G35x will cost just as much if not more... SUV's with 4x4 are not cheap either... Atleast the G35x looks hot SUV's are lame looking in my opinion... there just raised station wagons and some how the manufactors brained washed must of american into thinking there the in thing (also noticed that the markup on these things are crazy, dealerships can make over 8k profit if sold at MSRP)....

Go with style, G35x is your ticket... test drive one.

I'm definately on the same boat for opinions with you, SUV's are the devil to society, they inspire height-challenged people to feel superior to others on the road and feel invincible to damage and danger.

Driving my mom's 03 Mercury Mountaineer V8 is a relief sometimes, not having to worry about ground clearance and just drive over anything i'd like, thats the only real benefit I see is the ease of mind I would be able to retain as I travel to the various locations, some of which I have no idea where, and if you guys are anything like me, when I don't know where i'm going (like some place new) I don't have the best time focusing on the road and ground clearance, instead i'm staring all over the place trying to make sure I dont' pass my destination. Its that unprepared ness I don't like.

Also, this job would be giving me $375 a month car allowance. Either that would help purchase the new car for me, or allow me to lease a new vehicle to put all those miles on for the first couple years as I venture about.

I love the maxima! Compared to your car and most other cars that thing would feel like a monster. Have you looked at the new Altima SE-R's?

I have not actually Fairlady!

Got some words of advice that sorta beat me up a little on the idea of a new car, alot of potential driving...that is going to suck especially when I take really good care of my car, especially a new car I'd be more ****.

The Maxima is front wheel drive though right? So far i'm sorta digging it though! I don't like the front end. I like the RWD idea of the G35 Sedan too but if I go G35 i'm going coupe, I just cna't help but love the coupe.

I completely agree. The G35coupe before the Z was a much higher level, for less money too. It had a much better interior and options compared to the Z for less $. I just didn't like the fact it was huge.

And this is the one with the body kit and stuff right? I thought that was pretty cool, my girlfriend was looking at the altima but I also noticed the kitted oem Altima. I'll have to check that one out too.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys!
