Getting ready to buy a Z track.
Hello Everyone, my name is Eric. I live in NY. This is a nifty forum you guys have here. I currently have an Audi S4, active member on the audiworld forums. I'm going to look at a Daytona Blue Track tomorrow night. Most likely trading in the S and going with the Z. I think I'll have a lot of fun with it.
For those who have the track, how do you feel about the interior and the emmenities? Coming from an Audi I'm a bit snobby about construction and seat comfort. I searched around but could not find pics of the interior. Anyone have any I can see?
Thanks.

Best thing to do is get on http://www.nissandriven.com and do a dealer inventory search to see whats around in your area, call them and go see for yourself. The Track model's interior is exactly the same as all the others except for the Touring, where you get power, heated leather seats and the Bose system. If you want leather, nissan does offer aftermarket packages for the other models, but personally, I don't think they look as nice as the factory leather on the Touring. After spending alot of time on this forum myself, I believe the general consensus of the quality of the Z's interior is very good. Just keep in mind this is a sports car, not a luxury car.
you being in an S4 right now, I would consider the touring over track, you give up rims and brakes and you gain the heated seats. and the stereo... assuming you get it fixed it should be pretty good for a stock system; Im sure you know what I mean.
the seats in track (and all the other models sans touring) have been prone to wear from what Ive heard. its not cloth like standard qausi velvet like material, but its like a woven fabric.
heres a good shot of the touring seats and interior.

If you're used to the Audi, I would suggest the Touring, also. After driving around a car with more emphasis on the interior, you might be disappointed with the Track model's. But hey, you should really check it out for yourself and see what you think!

I'm going tomorrow to night to check them out. My main focus honestly is performance. I had my audi running high 12's. I think the Z is a better foundation for modding though. I just want to make sure the seat is good. I can't wait to check this car out.
well theres both ways to go, you can replace the seats and stereo if you choose of course. or you can replace the rims and brakes.
I think thats how many people looked at it, except the seats were fine, while personally, those rays arent totally my taste, Id prefer something darker with a thin 5 spoke design. as for brakes, Im waiting for a track to get totalled in my area, then hopefully snag the brakes off it.

, I have to mention that you may want to look at the G35 Coupe if you are that picky about interiors. You get a more luxurious interior instead of a true sports car.
I was considering that. I am taking a look at one tonight. But I like the aggresive instrument cluster styling of the Z better and I have a feeling that though they are the same platform, there will be more direct bolt on mods for the Z. Like I said, performance is my first priority.
If you are going for the performance aspect, definitely go for the Track model. The Bembo's perform/look super, and the Rays are extremely sweet. Most performance oriented people do not want leather due to their slickness factor. The cloth seats are very grippy and snug. They fit almost like a glove.
Since you are coming from an Audi, if you want luxo treatments like leather, navigation, automatic, and Bose (crap), go for the touring.

That's pretty much what i wanted to hear about the seats. The Track I found has the Nav so I'm happy there. Stereo, I'm content to screw with that myself. You guys here seem to have a lot of good ideas. I like the wheels, and the brakes look sweet!
Well here is my opinion. I own a Touring and a Track model. The Touring model is defnitely sweet as far as luxury goes but the Track isn't hateful either. Personally I am a little snobby as well about interiors and just bought leather to put on the Track seats. They are made by nissan and are perfectly made to fit. Either way both seats snug you very well and are very comfortable. Otherwise both cars perform equally the same and to be quite honest really cannot see a significant difference between the Brembo's and the stock calipers besides looks. I can't see where you can go wrong!

I drive a Audi too and it sounds like you haven't seen the interior of the Z yet. You will be disappointed if you compare it with your Audi. It looks nice but the plastic is hard and very cheap feeling. With that being said if performance is your key requirement then it shouldn't matter.
As for the seats, . I have normal seats on my Audi and sport seats on our BMW and the Z seats are very snug comparably on the side bolstering.
I would recommend the Track for you because the interior of the Z is the exact same for all models. Going with the Touring will only give you leather seats not better interior quality. I would not buy the Z for a luxury coupe only for performance, G35 coupe is much better for that role.
my 2 cents

I feel like Im preaching, but the leather seats have some big side bolsters as you can see in the picture. theres also a notch in the drivers side for you arm so you can shift. I assume this is similair to the cloth seats.
if I were you and was shopping now, I would want to see some testing, I see the brembo and stock, Im sure brembo is better. but now I see stoptech, and numerous braking systems from sema, even brembos that dont look like the track brembos. some of these are probably better, and might be worth upgrading to. its just like the lsd is lovely, but it is still a viscious slip, not torsen; so while its better than most, its still not "the best".
just a consideration.

yes i see your point. The gist I am getting is, get my *** in the car and see what i prefer. I have been looking over all the great pics you guys provide and the various aftermarket sights. Technical data seems a bit difficult to come by. Real world, third party testing is a little scarce.

I know this horse has been beaten to death...but if you can get upgraded brakes from the factory, IMHO it is the best option since they where engineered for the car. Not to discount the engineering skills of stoptek and others, but I would just assume Nissan knows what they are doing when they designed on the brembos. Also, correct if I am wrong, the brake upgrade from the factory upgrades the front and rear brakes. While Stoptek and others just the front unless you pay mucho bucks. Just something to think about.
