Nissan is sending out engineers for my car!!!!
Has anyone heard of this before? My air bag light came on Sunday morning. I took it to Gastonia Nissan monday morning and they called me about 3pm and told me that they need to keep my car until next Thursday. They said that they called Nissan in California to see if it had happened anywhere else because they couldn't find the cause of why the light came on. Nissan asked them to hold the car there and they are going to send 3 Lead Engineers from California to come look at my car. I took my car and told the dealership that if they wanted to check out my car that would be fine but I am not leaving it at a dealership for a week and half. The service advisor called me this morning and told me that Nissan has speeded up the process and will have the engineers out here tomorrow. I will be dropping my car off to the dealership in the morning and will pick it up Thursday night. They're going to rent me a car from Enterprise. Does this sound unusual to anyone beside me??
Sounds right to me......it's a liability issue.
If they let you take the car and the airbag wronfully deploys at speed on the highway or something they would be liable for putting you in danger and whoever else would be involved in teh accident that followed.
I'm sure they speed the procedure up because they can't guarantee you aren't driving the car (seeing as how you took it home)
that's my guess anyways......Nissan has to determine if there is a risk, in which case we would all be in danger.....and that could mean a big suit for nisssan. They have done right by a lot of ppl so I'm sure they'll get it resolved nicely.
good luck.
