Just curious. I can't decide between these 2 cars.
I need a back seat somewhat, but I like the Z better.

Anyway, the real question is...
Feathering on a G35. Was this or is this a problem with them too?

 

I've never heard of it on the G35...it's possible I guess though.

I personally hate the G35 because it's like they couldn't make up their mind between a sedan and a sports car. It's too luxury and too heavy IMO. My boss had been talking about buying an M3 or M5...and he came in the other day with a G35....sedan. Ouch.

Yeah, I like the G35, but not as much as the Z. This will be my daily, so back seats aren't a 'must' but I'm trying to find a deciding factor between the 2.

 

Having owned both a 2003 G35 Coupe and now a 350ZR, I can tell you that as far as quality goes, the Infiniti is much, much better. Also, the dealer experience is far superior than Nissan: whenever you go in for service/repairs, the dealer will loan you an Infiniti car for you to drive. I was given a nice M45 to drive for a couple of days while my car was being worked on to correct a common problem with the early G35 Coupes: on straight roads, if you were to let go of the steering wheel, the car had a tendency to drift slowly to the right. This problem was caused by a front suspension part that I guess was not up to specs, and needed to be replaced. No tire feathering issue, though. I ended up selling my G35 because the car did not feel sporty enough, and I decided I wanted a convertible. Also, I am not too crazy about the front end look of the G35C, although the rear of the car is much better looking than the Z. I think Nissan should have made one sports car with the front end of the Z and the rear end of the G35C...

Good input there. I like the looks over-all and the sportiness over-all of the Z much more. I also don't like the front of the G35, but I could live with it.
What's w/ Nissan/Infinity and their front suspension issues though? Sheesh!

Well, I still don't know which way I'm going to go. I already have my *****-to-the-wall sports car, so I wonder why I can't just go G35 for a more GT car? I guess it's b/c I'm a sports car nut.

I wish I could find a dealer that would give me a demo to keep for a weekend of each. That would help me decide tremendously!

 

Since you already have a sports car, then the G35C should be your choice, as the car is still sporty enough not to be boring, and is much more comfortable and luxurious for day-to-day driving. And if you are to get the G35C Sport, you get the Brembo's, the nice 19" wheels, the 6MT, and more HP than the non-Track Z's. Next time you go to the dealerships, compare the panel gaps, the paint and interior materials quality of the G35C to the Z; you'll notice what I mean by build and overall quality difference between the two makers. The price difference b/w the Z Touring and the G35C is not that much, and for an extra thousand or two, you'll get a much better car. If they had made a G35 Convertible, I would be driving one instead of the ZR. If/when Infiniti introduces their Skyline GTR in the States, my ZR will be going on the auction block without a moment's hesitation.

 

Don't get the Z unless you want to deal with tire feathering. I own a 2004 and the problem still isn't solved. I will never buy another Nissan product. I'm currently looking at the BMW 330Ci...
