Talking Got the New Car Smell Again!!

I brought my Z to the dealership today to get the Nav door fixed. The washed it for me after. After I got in, it smelled like a new car again! It must have been the soap or some detergent they used buts it kicks ***. I tossed my vanilla creme air freshener in a ziplock bag for future use.

Man I wish I could find that new-car smell *accurately* reproduced in an air-freshener somewhere, but in all my years of looking, I've been unable to find it. It seems that all of the "new car scent" air-freshener's just miss the mark. I love that smell.

I too still get the new car smell since I don't drive it all the time I have a 2004 with 5K miles on it.

Every new car smells different depend on the brand.

it's not the new car smell you think it is. it's actually coming from the plastic piece you have replaced...i too get that smell cuz i just got a whole new set of center console!

Sorry to jack the thread, but what did you get fixed with your Nav door. I have the power door and it makes noise when u open and close it since day one. I just have been too lazy to take it in.

oh...

SB Track, I brought my Z in cuz the navigation door wouldn't open when I pressed the button. They said the springs were missing so they just replaced the whole thing. When I got mine, it was also really loud everytime I opened and closed it. Now its smooth as silk.

New car smell is just a mix of new plastic, new carpet, and new leather. Just get a few pieces of each and shove them under the seat. LOL

This is the truth.....think about it. The air return for the AC is at the base of the front consol close to the floor mats....the floor mats are the most rank part of your car....replace the floor mats and your car will smell new. I have done it a couple times...in other cars of course!

i read something that the "new car" smell is actually toxic, which makes it addicting, but because it wears off its not harmful,

http://resourcesnews.tripod.com/dec-4.html

is this legit?

anyone hear about this?
