My car is in . . . and damn the Z seems S-L-O-W!!!
"Damn the z seems S-l-o-w!!!" It's obvious you've never driven the new Z or intend to. Actually DRIVE one then get back to us.
Of couse Automobile, Forbes, Car and Driver could all be wrong.
Sorry if you haven't fooled me but hey I actually own one as do many lucky people on this site. You can say the Bose sucks, vision is limited, cig lighter is in the wrong place and I'll believe you. "S-L-O-W", well you're not telling the truth although nice try with the "breaking in" warm fuzzies.

I have got 2500 miles on the Z and it is damm fast. Forget about the 0-60 times, this ride is fast 0-90. This car is a blast to drive when you got to get on the expressway, you can take 3rd to 80 and that will get you in the flow of traffic pretty quick. I have figured out how to launch my ride and it snaps my head back. The whole idea of the car is that it has linear acceleration, you won't feel a kick but it also doesn't feel like you are doing 80-100. Kick it up to 100 on an empty part of the freeway (be safe) and ask you passenger how fast they think you are going. I bet you they say 65-70. It doesn't "feel" fast because the car is rock solid. You have a new Dodge Neor RT and I guarantee that when you are going 80 it will feel like it is going 110.

Where are you getting the numbers that the Z will do the 1/4mile in 13.95? is that a Nissan claim or have several magazines done road tests to get the 350Z into the 13's. From what I've only read and have not driven a 350Z, the stock Z is a 14.2-14.5 second car.....
i'm curious to see what times you guys get this spring when u track the car...

Anyone who thinks the Z is fast before break-in must be accustomed to driving an SUV, Taurus, or Civic.
I came to the Z after driving a '92 Toyata Paseo, where I had 1.5 Liters of Pure Power (85 Hp to be precise). Let me tell you, the Z is F-A-S-T.
Luckily, I drove an S2000 just before I got my Z (a friend let me take his out for a day to whet my appetite) and I can still say the Z is fast. I was able to beat a 300ZXTT in my first AutoX ever, (although we both got beat by a 300ZX N/A), so the Z does have some speed. I will agree that it doesn't FEEL very fast, especially now that I've gotten more used to the car, but it actually picks up speed very nicely and handles corners with aplomb. The understeer is quite heavy at the limit, which I found a bit annoying at the AutoX, but which is very nice on twisty mountain roads. I guess if you have doubts you should wait because I'm sure Nissan will be coming out with a higher power version as time goes on.
Also, we should all quite webcarconnection's 13.8 seconds as the standard 350Z 1/4 mile time.

could you please post a single person who got 14.2-14.5? no mags gotten over 14.2 I dont think. one did get 13.99, and a actuall person got 13.8.... I bet we will see a 13.7 or 13.6 if a really good driver gets out there for alot of practice before he goes and mods his car.

I kinda flet the car wasn't as fast until I got used to really putting my foot into......you'll see

I have to agree that the power delivery is very deceiving. It took several days to realize where the true power was kicking in as well as when to let off. It's not like an old hot rod or dirt bike that has a power band that yanks your head back and hurts your shoulders.
Smooth and steady is the way this car operates.
The handling also makes a difference as it will rail turns like no other car in this price range.

on street tires? 1.8 60 ft? no way.
u better strip that car down... adust air pressure, leave an 1/8 of fuel in there and dont go thru the waterbox.
I must have a good one. Because i could tell it was going to be fast with 11 miles on her. Now with 310 miles i have gotten into her a little. She is way quick and i don't go to red line. But whatever. She is more beautiful than any other sports car in her class IMHO. You know something, I like her looks more than the 911. 911 has to perform better, just has to. But that's the one I'm chasing and I will be up for some mods to catch up. And she iZ fast anyway.
And I don't believe this guy from NY.
And another thing. My Z's fit and finish is perfecto.

if you want the greatest "sense" of speed, then the z is definitely not the best candidate. but it unquestionably accelerates faster than a 330i from 0-60, 1/4 mi, 60-100. even rx8, wrx, accord ex coupe, g35 sedan, altima 3.5 accelerate faster than a 330i.
