dealership i'm going through gets 3 slots a month, if i order now it's on the decemeber order month.. still get it aroudn late feb early march. also they dont try to tack on extra paint protect fees or any of that bulls hit. and they said they'd buy me a new bumper if someone tried to install a license plate holder thing... straight msrp. dealership said they'd call me if they have anyquestions on how to handle anything that id idnt give them exact directions on, basically they explained to me that thier working on getting repeat business and are willing to do almost whatever it takes,, they were straight with me on all info and everything else.. is it because its a smaller dealership and they need the repeat business? who knows, but i'll always take my business there if its nissan related, hell i drive 45 min to get there anyways, and thers 2 dealerships that are closer but nowhere near the quality of service as this dealership is.. btw its collins nissan on the sw side of indy

uro279: Thanks. Sounds good. I am actually thinking of maybe driving to the dealership and maybe 1 or 2 others just to see if there is anything on the lot.

TriX:
I am suggesting a polite, short, and firm discussion with the Sales Manager. Call and set up an appointment, dress professionally, have your documents and facts in order and calmly make your case. If they say yes, you win. If they say no you can consider some of the options which involve others pushing for you. They instead may offer you a compromise, like a free first & second service, that you would find acceptable for the inconvenience. Doing nothing leaves you right where you are now. You don't want to mope about this so spend two hours total in trying to create a better outcome. When you get it, enjoy the car!

Default There are other 350Z's out there....

If all else fails and they give you the deposit back I'm sure you'll be able to find a Z sitting on a lot somewhere. I have a buddy here who just bought one (Track model) 3 weeks ago. He didn't have a pre-order or anything. He saw my Z (PPW Touring) and feel in love with it, did a little searching, and now he's driving one. It only took him one day to find it. 40 miles away!

I was happy for him but pissed that I waited over 8 months for mine. Not to mention all the stress that came with the waiting. Hopefully you'll get your deposit back.... Just look around.

Well I have not had a chance to visit the dealer. But I called the Sales Manager. He assured me the order has been placed.

Now I don't belive this one bit. He says delivery will be in March. So that would mean its not ordered.

Another issue is I didn't get any sort of customer number.

This weekend I am going to the dealer for sure and a couple of other dealers just to double check if there is anything on the lot.

I suggest you following uro279's nicely laid out plan. If you are not able to get an order number from the dealer very soon (and start to track it with NNA) then get your deposit back from the sales manager.

When I put my deposit down with my dealership, I was not too sure how things would play out with them if I decided for whatever reason to back out of the order. That's why I put my deposit on a credit card. That way I could dispute the charge if they tried any funny stuff. Probably a lot easier than small claims court.

Anyway, if you don't get a trackable order number soon and you get your deposit back, starting calling and driving around to the different dealers in your region and you may get lucky as many have done.

If you wait it out until March with the current dealer, try to look on the bright side: you should be just in time for the winter months to be over.

NowUZme: I wish there was winter. Its only god forsaken heat in Miami. Hence I really want my Z

But I will probably go and speak with the GM or sales mananger after I visit a few other dealers. I also put my deposit on a credit card.

Work the plan. Speaking with other dealers is a good warm-up but do you want to put down another deposit before resolving the problem over the first deposit? Deal with the problem and it won't be a problem anymore. Just a shout out to you. Good luck.

Trix,

Good luck with getting your Z.

I know how you feel - my car is on its death bed too and I'm getting very nervous that it can even make it to my expected delivery date. The problem is that I'm beginning to wonder about the credibility of my dealer - I put down my deposit (only $500 thank goodness) back in late Sept and was told late Jan/early Feb. Supposedly my order was placed on Nov. 4 (though I too never received a confirmation # or order # - humm, wonder if they actually did place my order after all).

What has me a bit miffed is that another person placed an order several days after mine, yet his car was ordered the first of Oct. and his car is in already!?! Mine is a Base, while the other Z was a touring. Given that the touring has a higher markup could explain why his order got put in front of mine.

Still, this plus the lack of an order # has put me into the frame of mind where I'm ready to cancel my order and begin looking elsewhere - just like you are.

Best of luck to you - maybe both of us will be in new cars before ours die completely.

Kyle

kyle jones: Yeah defeniately sounds like you are in the same situation as me. I am hoping my car can last the next 90 days.

I am thinking the dealer will try to screw me. Meaning he will order a Touring instead of the Base. Or an enthusiast and tell me that Base didn't come in and push me into a better model.

Like I said. I am not going to cancel my order but I will start looking at other dealers. If I find the model I want. I will first try to get out of the deposit. Unless they give me a VIN and a customer # otherwise I want my money back.

I don't really care about the color to much. I can live with all except red and blue. Crossing my fingers.

BTW when I did go to the dealer I could have drove out with a Touring with all the options or a Enthusiast with all the options. So that should tell you something.

That is exactly what has happened to me!!!! They put my order in after someone who ordered later than I did, and then turned around and offered me an Enthusiast model to avoid the wait for my base model!!!

I have to stop thinking about this because I'm getting more irritated by the minute.

One of the problems I see is that Base model is something that is not ordered by the dealer but rather the higher scale models.
