Twin Turbo?? From Nissan as Option? Yes or No?
Hi all,
I'm new to the Z world, am thinking about ordering one....but before I do, does anyone know if Nissan will come out with a Twin Turbo Model? I sure would love to have a Turbo and if they are going to make one, I might as well wait....
BTW, You all have awesome cars..they look great
Thanks in advance,
Ant

hmmm so you guys really think nissan is stupid enough to do EXACTLY what they did to the 300ZX? right...
no there will not be a TT option, they have compromised in MY opinion by offering NISMO who will sell a supercharger. or they could do a TT from the factory so they can bump the car up into the 40Grand area, and shut themselves out of the market again...
as for personal wish, I hope not, cause then wave bye to our resale value. who wants the NA supra, 300ZX, or RX7? exactly, nice car, but they arent the real thing.

I can name off a few things off the top of my mind that would account for at least $2g's to the cost of the 300ZX [twin turbo]: true dual exhaust system, dual throttle bodies, adjustable suspension, Super-HICAS, NVCS (Nissan Valve-timing Control System), the brakes (4-piston fr/2-piston rr). Factor in the cost of the parts *and* the cost of the engineering.
In 1996, a 300ZX non-turbo cost around $36k and a twin turbo cost around $40+k. If GReddy has a twin turbo kit available for the 350 at around $5k, then imagine what adding twin turbos from the factory would cost Nissan. If they took an Enthusiast or Performance and turbocharged it, how much more do you think it'll be?
And yes, after owning a twin turbo, I want to go back to all-motor (or supercharged).
Michael.

One of the salesmen that I was talking to told me that Nissan was coming out with a twin turbo model in a couple of years. I didn't believe it, even though the salesman seemed to be pretty serious about it, and he was obviously a freak. He had his Silverstone car in the parking lot.
I could see a single turbo model in the future, but I seriously doubt that they would come out with a twin turbo model, since it would put the Z at about at least 400 hp, and would probably be only about $8,000 more. That would definitely hurt sales for the much more eexpensive skyline.
