I let a friend drive it.... he ended up powershifting it and going over speedbumps at about 50....

I was in there with him at the time, and he swore to me he would baby it, what a jerk, now I can't trust anyone.

I would say certainly! And tell him to make sure he curb checks the crap out of it and completely pulls off the rear end. Tell him how cool it would be to impress his date by doing a burn out and eating 2000 miles off the tires. And make sure, of all things, that he goes for a 180 turn at 90 mph. It helps to do all this with beer of course.

Hehehe, only my wife and I drive my Z. When other start making payments on it, then *maybe* they can sit in it with the engine running, but not in gear hehe.

I'd say it depends on how mature the guy is. Prom is prom. You go as friends or you go with a girl you really like. In most cases, you end up getting laid and/or have a good time. Driving the Z won't help you get any more *** because you've already established a relationship with that girl. You either do it or don't.

If you can trust him to be mature (no burnouts, etc.), then go for it. But if he's doing it just to show off, then I'd say no.

Now maybe if i can "unfortunately" have the car dismantled while putting on the test pipes and exhaust...hmm...

I can't give any advice about your fiance giving you flack for not doing it but I would be willing to bet she is just trying to put a little pressure so she can tell her brother she tried. She will get over it too.

well i cant say i wasnt the same way at his age- i drove my dad's corvette to prom and thought it was the greatest thing on earth. i mean it kind of goes hand in hand with getting all dressed up, going out to dinner, etc.- it's a memorable night and you want to make the best of it. i dont really think he is trying to impress his date...but i know i sure as hell would if i was sporting a new Z. what you mentioned about my fiance saying she tried makes sense, at least i hope that's what she was trying to do. i was a little pissed hearing her throw all of that in my face

just tell him to take a limo with a bunch of friends. it's more fun that way anyway since he'll be with his good friends, some of whom he probably won't be going to college with and would want to share memories with before highschool is over.

Default Mostly I say "no, my wife even knows better than to ask"

The only guy that has is my designated driver since it must be in my garage to sleep. My son drives him home.

My mom gets to drive my Z!! I let one of my friends drive once (only because he was a street racer) he hit 126mph with the e-brake on!! I was so pi$$ed (I'm still pi$$ed) I haven't let anymore of my friends drive since!! Now, when my friends asking to drive I say: "Sure, in at about half past never"...."HELL NO"...."The dealership is down the road"... "You touch her and I'll kill you"...."Back away from the Z"...."Sure, if you wanna buy me new one" or any other smart @$$ comment that comes to mind!!

I get a little scared when my wife drives it, and it's half hers.

There is no way I would let a 17 year old in it. I remember being 17, a friends father had a 911, when they went away for a week we put about 150 miles on it. Trust me, they were not gentle miles.

mayn are you scared of your future brother in law or something?

seems like if you dont let him borrow it than its the end of the world..

jus tell him NO, easy as that..

at his age no matter how mature he is, he will be showin it off to his friends and his date..

I think the first day I got my car, my sister-in-law took it for a spin around the block. After that, nobody else drove it. I did offer my dad/mom/brother to drive, but the fact that it's a 6MT scared them. Nothing like having a manual transmission to scare people away. I did offer to teach my brother, but he declined. My roommate told me to let him drive it, I just said "no way" and left it at that.

I let my brother drive it to prom because he is a car guy too (hondas). I knew he respected what i was giving him. I did not even lecture him to be careful cause i rmember how it drove me nuts to get lectured by my dad when i borrowed the MINIVAN.

When i take my car to auto x i let total strangers drive it. Few people will be as hard on the car as i am AND it is still just a car.

I guess it is all a matter of who you trust.

Put him in the driver seat, fold the date in the trunk, and drive him... problem solved
