Default How to check Year of 350z

hello , i would like to know how i can check real year of 350z

sometimes sellers cheating on years by writing in documents wrong year
for 2003 year car , 2004 year etc or for 2004 year car they writing 2005 year
( at least in country i live sellers do it qq )

so i would like to know , how i can check year of car by checking something in car any changes ( between year ) ( or maybe its somewhere writen year of car , its still bad idea even its written since "year" somewhere inside car, sellers can change that too ) ( need to be something that would show real year of car ) ?
i would like to know how to differ 2005 , 2004 , 2003 350z

also i love how sellers bs , hey hey 2004 year december 31 car , it goes as 2005 buy it

thanks in advance

best place to look is the inner portion of the tires

heh jk, I think it may be in the VIN# or door panel. I was wondering the same thing.

The VIN will tell you. Do a search for VIN and you will find the thread that tells you how to decode the VIN.

Isn't there a sticker in the door jamb that tells you where and when it was produced?

Look at the 10th digit of the VIN. 4=2004, 5=2005

See http://www.courtesyparts.com/specs/vin.html

Production date shown on teh door jamb will not necessarily tell you. Mine is an 'o4 produced in July 2004. Some '05s show the same date.

You can also look on the plate inside the drivers door for the manufacture date.

It is a 2005. Manufacturing of '05s started in 7 or 8/04 so they could go on sale in th efall of '04.

As someone else said, The "New" model year usually begins in July or August. You need to determine that before you can determine if your car is a .5 meaning it was built + 6 mos into that model year. If your car is classified as an 04 and was manufatured in 06/04 (just before 05 release) then it would be safe to say your car is an 04.5.

I believe if you have a sticker date of anything 10/03 or higher for the 04 years, your car is a 2004.5. I'm not 100% sure about that one.

However, I am sure you can also tell by looking at the ECU. I think 2 letters means your car is an 04. A letter and number means your car is an 04.5

so
manufacture date 08-12/04
and manufacture date 01-03/05
both 2005 year
diff is only when it was out ?

so no diff then ?

and one more thing
for example for mercedes
u go to dealer show VIN of car
and they can check car in database ( year , model , blablablabla )

if my car is 10/04 ( its 2005 as i understood ) and
ill go to nissan dealer give my vin code to them so they can check it in database

what database will show
2004 year car or 2005

ty in advance

just planning to buy z350
2005 year cost like 5000$ more than 2004 year ( both not used )

i just dont want to be fooled

If you want to find out if you are a true XX year, I would do the following. Get your VIN and count 8 numbers from the end. There should be a number. It should be either 3, 4, or 5. This is the year of your car. For example, look at this sample 350Z VIN (mine) The last 7 numbers are unimportant. It's basically your plant code & serial number.
JN1AZ34E14XXXXXXX

See that 4 before the last X? That is your vehicle year. This is standard on all Nissans. Of course, if you want to double check, write down the VIN and call Nissan Customer Support.

As for whether or not your vehicle is a 4.5 or a 4 model date, you can always do the ECU check I stated in my previous post.

Edit: Here is a perfect example. Go to this page here. Look at all the models there. As you can see, the 8th digit shows a 3, 4 or 5. As you can see, it matches the description of the year.
