Default New Tire Question

Courtesy Nissan in Dallas (great guys) are now putting on the second set of replacement front tires on my 03 Brickyard in just under 10K miles. They showed me a new replacement tire with the same brand and model name as the old one but with a new tread pattern. They hoped this would be a better solution but warned that the tire was so new they didn't have much feedback on the effectiveness of the new design. Are there many of you out there running this 'new' tire. What kind of luck are you having?

I've been running the new tread for about 6500 miles now and so far so good. I got the car realigned by the dealer at the time of the tire swap. No problems yet. The previous tires were finished at 7500. Now if I could only get the brakes to last more than 12k...

I had my 05 OEM tires for 6500 miles and it showed no abnormal wear and had a good amount of treads left for another 5,000 miles easily. Of course, if your not driving aggressively.........

Are the 05s dealing with feathering too? I thought it was confined to the earlier models . . .

Don't think the 05's are affected. I have an 03 with a build date of Aug/02

I also had the dealer replace the fronts - at 11K - with the obvious "new tread". Only 1,000 miles so far, but they track well and are silent so far. I intend to wear them out (which given the history of RE40's probably won't be long, but we'll see), then replace then with some decent tires.

Something tells me this is the strategy - molify the critics until the cars and tires eventually age out of warranty.

A long term term solution - not.

I think the '05s are much improved. Supposedly their is a suspension "fix" that is supposed to correct the issue.

The problem is no one really has enough mileage on the '05 to determine if the problem still exists. Most 05's have less then 5k miles on them.
