Default Clutch Question

This may sound like a dumb question but my Z is the first manual trans. car I've owned. How do you know when you need a new clutch? My car is at the dealer and they said I need a new clutch b/c the pedal is stiff and it's "letting out high." My pedal has always been stiff and I haven't noticed it letting out high. Do you think they're just trying to screw me?

Also, what do you guys think about the Nismo clutch?
Thanks!

**** 'em, my clutch has been stiff since I got it. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's not grabbing. How many miles do you have on the car and how do you drive it?

yea i say bs because if your clutch is going/gone it wont let out high as they put it, it will just not grab at all....even if the pedal is all the way out.....

I have 26,000 miles and I wouldn't say I ride the clutch. I was under the impression that if the clutch was going I wouldn't be able to get the car into gear or at least get it into gear as easily.
