That's GTR territory...not a smart move for Nissan.
I would like to see:
Two engine options:
4.5 V8 N/A making over 300hp and 310tq or a 3.5 V6 TT making ~400hp and 380tq (at the crank).
Targa top.
Same body style just a little lower and wider.
Very similar interior design...it is just jaw dropping.
Better interior material.
No obstructing strut bar in the rear (figure out how to move it somewhere else).
A compartment behind the driver seat for models that don't have the subwoofer back there.
All I can think of right now.

I've only had my z for about a month, but here's a few things I'd like to see on the next gen z:
-MORE POWER, hopefully through the use of FI
-Seq. gearbox with paddle shift similar to bmw z4 and others
-Targa-top would be nice, roadster looks great w/top down, aweful w/top up.
-less wind and road noise
-better paint
-better stock tires
-better outward visibility
-improve interior material quality and textures
-tilting headrest
-better sound sys.(picture Mark Levinson kicking Dr. Bose's a**)

I think the two greatest features is price and looks. There are always cars that's faster or goes around corner faster. But no car offer the performance, looks, and reliability for the same price.
With that in mind, I think they should improve on things that wouldn't be costly. If the next Z is $50k, it'll flop like the 300zx.
- lighter weight, see what reinforcement can be skipped without sacrificing rigidity, I mean the chassis is the same as a SUV
- modify the restrictive ECU
- fix tire feathering, bounce, etc etc
- use less environmentally friendly paint
- find where it rattles and get rid of it
- put on a set of performance all-season tires, Z has lost comparison tests because of that
Some of the things mentioned such as FI or better interior will increase the cost of manufacturing in the end. Maybe someone who wanted it can purchase parts from Nismo or DIY.

• Add a NISMO-style front lip and fix the tail end so it's not so fat looking.
•*19-inch wheel option.
• Better stereo
• Better steering wheel, more shape to it
•*Keep the price where it is.

wow, how can you say an IRON block, and then cut weight...thats a total contradiction.
Same engine, stronger rods, stronger pistons. 6-Speed paddle shifter. Add more lightness.

I think you guy's are shooting pretty high wanting a paddle shifter and push button keystart...does Nissan even have ONE car on the line-up that has a paddle shifter? What about push button keystart? This is Nissan not BMW. Leave the push button keystart to Infiniti. I don't even think Nissan would do a paddle shifter for an Infiniti car.
I agree with what 350zroadster said...it offers great performance, and looks for the price. I ever agree with the interior and FI option comments he said...it WOULD increase the costs significantly which is something Nissan doesn't want to do.

Fix the feathering problem
Lighter by 600 lbs (more compact, but don't destroy the z look)
More Power and more torque (400 whp)
Further improve exhaust note
Revamp interior material (with finer leather, etc..)
Standard with Nismo exterior kit (nissan should merge with nismo)

they should definately do
1. Forced induction
2. maybe some weight reduction... if possible.. but agian that would mean cheaper interior.. and well.... im negativing myself out
3. better OEM tires
4. get rid of parking lights, or change the light color to match HID lights
5. better paint
6. better paint
7. better paint
8. a car cover at no extra charge when purchasing vehicle
id trade in my Z and get a NEW Z right away.. without thinking twice.. no matter how much ramen noodles id have to eat to make the car payment

I agree with you Hogstar. Wish the Japanese would put the wiper and light controls on the dash where they can easily be seen and operated. I hate stalk controls and this is one of my biggest complaints about the Z and Japanese cars in general.

Spinnerzzz and NEON!
'nuff said!
Jk. Interior, interior, interior. I have and '03 Z, and the material used for the doors is ridiculous. So chinzy. The radio and ac/heat ***** could look a little nicer too.

Cut the fat of our cars. About 300 to 400 lbs.(carbon fiber doors, hatch)
Give us the option to buy this hood. And this front end.
And give us a ZX option. With a nicely tuned NA ZX option and a TT ZX option.

Simple push button start which require the key in the ignition like in the S2000 and Viper and Viper Truck is not that hard to do. It's the system like in BMW where you just have to have the key somewhere in the vehicle that would be expensive. In fact, I added an "Ignitied" brand push button start to my Ram show truck. Fairly easy install.
As for seq. gearbox(paddle shift), Toyota has it in their MR Spyder, to my knowledge it's the only USDM Toy. with it. I'm sure Nissan could come up with a similar system.
The door material is really the only downside to the interior. I wish they'd do a perf. leather door panel insert just like the seats. Heck my mom's Honda Pilot has leather and they used the same leather on the doors. It looks VERY nice. They could maybe make the cup holders and storage doors/latch have a little higher quality feel.
As far as power, let's face it. Nissan WILL have to give the Z more power AND torque for it to keep up with the competition. Either adapt a light weight V-8 and/or forced induction. The high $20,000 to mid $30,000 sporty car arena is seeing some good competition these days. Many like the GTO and mustang gt or even the new cobra are really pushing the HP war pretty high up.
