How long are you all going with your break-in period? I know the owner's manual says 1200 miles, but the dealer told me that since the engine is micro-sealed you don't *really* have to break the car in at all, but he still recommended keeping under 4000 for the first 500 miles or so.

 

What does micro sealed mean ? Today my car hit 1172 miles, almost there. I have tried to keep it under 4K RPM and not cruise at a constant speed for more than 5 minutes.

Do a seach on "break-in" on this site and you will find many anwsers toy our question. Pick one that suits you ..

 

I have around 500 some odd miles on my car. Not doing too well with break in. I take it over 4k, I can't help it, just so addictive. I haven't redlined it yet, but I have taken it a little over 5k rpms.

 

I tried hard, and certainly dont rev as hard or as high as Id want, or as often. I generally keep it under 4000, but its seen 6000 about 5 times. but those 5 times all came after 500miles. and now Im at 800. I just take it easy, but I enjoy the car.

Ive never heard of microsealed.... take it as easy as you can for as long as you can. thats the best anyone can do. if you manage to hold it under 4000 for 1200miles I call you a liar.

 

ive had my car for 9 days now and i just hit 500miles today.

so far she's only hit 5k rpm 3 times. alot of my shift have been over 4k tho :[ .... it's so hard to shift early. i set the shift light at 4600 rpm, so it starts blinking at 4100, meaning if i see the shift light blinking its past 4k ... and well, i see it way too much in first and 2nd gear :P
