They refer to the Subaru Escudo as the Pikes Peak Escudo... so perhaps Audi is trying to make their car sportier by latching onto famous race ways?

many car companies likes to use famous events and races in the names of their colors...or even the name of the car
take a look at the limited number of examples i can think of off the top of my head..
imola yellow (audi), referring to a twon in france where a race is held
imola red (bmw)...same town different color
nogaro blue (audi) another french town where racing is done i believe
lemans blue (nissan) slef explanatory for you folks!
monte carlo (chevrolet...then neamed the car aafter the city!)
nothing new..nothing too special
take a look at the limited number of examples i can think of off the top of my head..

Pikes Peak isn't a race track, it's a mountain.
There is a very famous automotive event held there every year.Also, Audi TT = Touring Trophy. Named after a famous race. I think they have the right though, Audi has one of the fullest racing pedigrees of any manufacturer.
