So...if you get the base model, what comes in the place of the LCD screen? Is that flip-up panel just solid with nothing there? Is the radio moved up or what?

This has been puzzling me for a while.

There's just an empty cubby/storage space behind the flip-up door. Use it for whatever, or not at all. Leaves space for aftermarket stuff. I ordered a Touring an opted not to get the Nav. Kind of ticks me off that there's nothing more interesting behind that cool flip-up door, but $2000 buys a lot of maps, with about $1950 left over for mods...

 

Just a big, dark hole.......with a flip-up panel covering it of course.

Hope that didn't sound rude - I'm ordering a base Z as well and the single worst feature to me was that big empty space where the Nav unit would have gone.
