Lisa,

Thats good news. If he had not confessed about stealing the rims, it would have been hard to prove!!

So Lisa,
Fill us in on the details of how this went down...I couldn't find the thread shortly after I first read it. Did you ask the Mods to take it down so he couldn't get wise to the fact you were on to him?

Did eBay help? The local PD?

It's great to see the system work!

Yeah, I had thrown up 5 threads on 5 boards on Saturday... After everyone posted the link of the auction, I went and had them moved or changed so that he wouldn't get tipped off. Someone told me a friend of his was bidding on the wheels so they wouldn't get bought by anyone else until the cops could catch him, but someone emailed her saying the wheels were stolen, and not to bid on them. I believe that same person might have emailed the seller *****ing at him about selling stolen goods. I noticed he had pulled the auction late Sunday morning. When I learned what the girl was doing, I had her keep in contact with him by email that she was still interested. The kid actually emailed her back saying something to the effect of: "yeah, buy-it-now price is $1500 cash. Let me know where you want to meet, and I'll deliver them to you." (that was late Sunday night)

Wow, all too easy. She had about 1 or 2 more emails with him, got his cell phone number to call him with a location. We turned all the info over to the cops, including his name and address we had obtained from you guys, and then called him to set up the meeting. He fell for it, then confessed when they started questioning him. My friend and I were called up to the meet spot (we were around the corner of the building, where he could not see us), to identify the wheels. They were exactly how he had pulled them off, with my Nismo valve stem caps still on there (I had just put them on there a couple of weeks ago). The rims were still dirty, too... he hadn't even taken the time to clean them up. His prints are all over the rims, as well as on my car. lol

And yes, it's a wonderful thing when the justice system works the way it's supposed to.

Great news! Too bad he's prob out on bail.. I had my car stolen once before and the A-holes that stole my car eventually got caught. I never did get my aftermarket equipment back (rims, system). In the end they didn't get what they deserved, they got BS community service since they had no criminal records.

What a sad ending, the thief didn't get beaten to a pulp.

Just kidding, glad everything worked out. Definetly, a great ending.
