Exactly. You're basically risking your safety for nothing.

That's just... scary. Hit a bad spot in the road and BLAMMO!

Kind of defeats the purpose of a sports car (GT car if you wanna nit-pick ) if you have to crawl around because of your tires.

I'm not a Z owner (I just really enjoy your site) so I'm not as experienced with feathering, but that looks more like the result of negative camber or toe in, which may be within factory specs.

yep, you would never have made it to 37k if you had feathering/tire roar cuz of the noise. Doesn't look like you had it...just good ol -camber.

I am really getting pissed off now. THAT IS NOT FEATHERING. THAT IS INNER TIRE WEAR THAT HAPPENED OVER 39,000 MILES DUE TO THE CAR HAVING NEGATIVE CAMBER SETTINGS. That is perfectly normal and to be expected. If you don't like it sell the car or get a camber kit and set the car to 0 camber.

Another guy that has no idea what is going on. That is not Nissan's fault.

Another guy that doesn't know what feathering looks like. You can't even see the tread blocks on those front tires anymore to see if there was ever feathering.

The intelligence abounds in this thread. What evidence is that? Show me where Nissan promised that you will get even tire wear for 40,000 miles.

I am glad that a few people posting in this thread know what is going on. That is a very intelligent response.

+1 BUT THAT ISN'T FEATHERING!!!! Feathering is where the tred pattern wears in such a way that each individual tread wears in such a way that there is a high spot at one side and a low spot on the other side. When you run your hand over the tread you can feel the high sports in one direction but not in the other direction.

The following Tire Wear Guide will help you identify the causes and solutions of most common tire wear patterns.

Do you work for Nissan or something? If you notice the two smiley faces, it was a joke you stupid ****. He who is so concerned about the intelligence of others, must have a deficit of intelligence himself.

By the way, for an intelligent person such as yourself, i'm surprised you used the intransitive verb "abound" improperly in your first sentence. Lets see if you are "intelligent" enough to make the slight corrections.

LOL, yeah that is NOT feathering. That is negative camber, as a few members have already pointed out! NORMAL for a car that has negative camber settings STOCK (for handling purposes).

My rears looked like your fronts at about 17K miles

You think I was questioning your general intelligence? I don't know you. I have no idea how intelligent you are. I was saying the intelligence of tires and feathering was lacking in this thread, and your post definitely wasn't helping.

This was feathering about 5k ago. As I was taking pics just now to show the feathering, it now looks like this...............

What tires could I buy that will help prevent this kind of wear again? Cheap ones too.

You can't buy any tires to prevent the insides from wearing out quicker than the outsides. That will inharanely happen with the 350Z due to the negative camber our cars are setup for. Those tires look fairly evenly worn in the pictures. The cheaper you go with tires generally the less tread life you willl get.

This is why I have no problems with Virginia's yearly safety inspection. The other cars on the road can get only so bad before somebody looks at them...

Dude,
when you turn it back they will charge you for tires. why not spend the money now - on yourself. For your own safety!

Since most are thinking it, I'll just say it. YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

Want a professional opinion to cross reference? I'm an engineer. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. That's why we design with safety factors, or as we like to call the "idiot factor" because of people like you.

And why would you lease and put that many miles on a car? all those miles are going to kill you when you turn it back in.
