I just got my Z and my friend has a 96 Eclipse Gs-T with mods. He bought it with the mods already done so we're not exactly sure about all the modsbut we know its fast. He is running 10 PSI of boost. Do you guys think I could take him with my stock 05 6mt Z?

 

race and find out - what? you're not going to race him unless you know you're going to win - where's the sportmanship in that?

seriously man, there are too many variables out there to know who would actually win, even you dont know whats been done to your buddies car... unless you are the sux0r at launching, you'll beat off the line with no problem - the rest is unknown until done... go race him - at the track... good luck.

 

Break in your Z first. Learn the car and let it learn you.

Then if you must, race him.

 

No. I had my TT on my z when I raced one and ended up blowing my engine. But before I blew the engine, I blew by him. I also raced it before i got my TT and it smoked me good.

 

Your friend bought a boosted eclipse and doesn't know what mods he paid for? Maybe he should take a look under his hood before he talks racing. At least you know your Z won't detonate at WoT.

 

My other car is a 97 eclipse GST and It would kill My track Z, but that's only because it's modded. If it was stock against stock the Z would kill the eclipse. My friend has a 97 GSX that killed a viper and an Z06, but it's always back in his garage with a new problem every month. So , IMO the Z is better because it has a 3.5 liter V6 and with a lot of money you can get some power out of that engine, and the eclipse is a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder Turbo that is a lot cheaper to Modd but his reliability issues. I'm actually sitting here right now waiting for my friend with a tow truck to come get my eclipse. I have to take it to a friend, because i tried to rebuild my block , but now I have no compression.
