I thought TL's were 3.2L?

The 2005 Acura TL is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, or luxury sports sedan, available in 4 trims, ranging from the 5-Spd AT to the 6-Spd MT w/ Navigation System.

Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 3.2-liter, V6, 270-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on the 5-Spd AT. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on the 6-Spd MT w/ Navigation System.

The 2005 Acura TL is a carryover from 2004.

I am both a Maxima owner and a Z owner also. Ive never raced anyone in the max, but it is nearly as fast as teh Z in a straight line. Ironically, i had a quick race with a 6th gen on the way home from work today and barely had a car on him by the time we shut down

I own both a Max and a Z. Both are stock and I've drag raced them both (seperately). The Z for me, not surprisingly is a little over 0.5 sec quicker in the 1/4 mile.

They weigh almost the same (the Z is a whopping 8 lbs lighter) but the Z has a little more power and has the advantage of weight transfer to the wheels propelling the car vs. OFF the wheels propelling the car in the case of the Max.

seems like it would be much quicker considering the Z puts more to the wheels than my car makes at the flywheel (00' SE for me anyway) - what year is everyone talking about?

Mine's an 02 if you check my sig. The 02 has the same engine as the Z but rated only at 255 hp. I've dynoed my Max and it puts ~195 or 196 hp to the wheels. Keep in mind it's an auto, but so is my Z which I haven't dynoed yet.

At the dealership where I sometimes get my Z serviced, there are windows between the waiting area and the service bays. While peering through the window along with other owners, and older guy was admiring the Z and was telling me about his Maxima (previous generation). The dude even gloated with pride about how our two engines were "exactly" the same. Could have argued the details but I smiled to myself knowing better. Hey, if it makes him feel better, why argue?
