Does anyone in either the Los Angeles or Santa Barbara area know of a good place that applies clear bras? I want to make sure I find a place and talk to them before I buy my Z.
Would regular Body/Paint Shops do clear bras?

I had a Cavalier before I just bought my Z and my Cavalier was a work car driving down the highway every day driver. Never had any flaws very few chips in the hood from rock chips. However this Nissan Has the worse paint that I have ever seen ( Other then Dodge Neons). My Z is an 04 and has about 7200 miles on it, its black and the damn clear coat looks like it is pulling away from the base coat. My girlfriends Toyota has paint problems also. I have owned foregin and domestic car and the cars from over seas just don't have the paint quality on them. If you ask me they need to talk to Ford and ask them how to apply paint to there cars.

Xpel needs to put me on the payroll. It would be best to get a referral from someone who has seen a shop's work firsthand of course... but you can find a dealer locator on the Xpel website. www.xpel.com

i was told when i bought my car to get the clear bra or i'll have tons of chips on my front bumper. i took the dealers advice, spent the 900$ for it and couldn't be happier.

i think the paint could be an issue, sure, but i also think its the way the car is designed (i.e. aerodynamics) that make it prone to get chips in the front.

German companies might, or cars painted in Germany might due to different environmental restrictions, but "Germans use a harder clear coat" is non-sequitur. If you have any evidence of similar things, it might be nice to know.

I think the Z's worst problem is a thin clearcoat rather than the pain itself. That's just based on close examination.
Ummm.. That's exactly what I was saying. I think that I found a website reading about it while I was reading about detailing on autopia.org. If you search around the internet, I'm sure you can find it.

Wow, $900?! The dealer made $300 profit on that... it should be about $600 installed if you find a place yourself. FYI for next time.
