Default So i went to the dmv today...

Had to regester the car and had to have it inspected since i bought it out of state.

The lady at the dmv told me to have them appraise the car at the same time cause it will save me alot of money on tax.

So i have everything done and shes like hmm and i am like whats wrong? "Well this is only the 2nd time i have seen the appraisal higher than the number we use to set the tax". Appraiser set it at $26,800 dmv had the car at $20,500. Btw its a 2003 350z

Not sure if the 350z hold there value or the guy appraising was on crack. lol

Same here, DMV is such a joke.
Every time i called, I was put onhold and more than 30 mins and nobody even realized i was on hold, so i ended hang up every time.
So then I tried to go to a local DMV branch in person, and guess what, a line streching from the information booth all th way back to the parking lot. Government departments=

WOW...you guys have some serious problems. Only problem I have had is when all the DMV computers in the state were down. Went a week or so ago to get custom plates, no lines, filled out the form, new plate will be here in a few weeks(prisoners work slow. LOL).

Hey guys. I found a cool trick to speed things up at the DMV, at least at the one in my town. There is a sign on the door that says closed at 530pm put the door will lock at 4pm. When I need to go to the dmv, I alwya sshow up at 3:59pm. You would be surprised how fast the ladies work after the doors are locked so that they can hurry up and go home. Go in at 8 or 9 in the morning and you will sit there for hours because they have to be there all day and can care less how long you are in the waiting area. Good luck. BEN

DMV is always great to me other than the fact that they charge like 3% to use a credit card. Never any lines and I have been lucky to always get the custom plate I want no problem.

Were the people working at the DMV "clones" or "mutants"?
I usually just get the "freaks" that work there.

This could ackfire because of all the poeple that put off going to the DMV till the last minute and show up just before it closes.

So, what did you end up paying if I may ask. I'm in the exact same situation, but in AZ.

hasnt backfired yet! It cant back fire really. Most people that put it off til late or after work are SOL, beecause the doors lock at 4pm, most late comers would try to roll in at 5 or 530pm. Also, once that door locks at 4pm automatically, Those ladies do not go home until the waiting room is cleared out. Believe me, this works 100%. Almost all DMV employees that are full time usually, are on Salary, so extra hours dont get them *****. lol cheers, ben

Do any of you have "DMV Express" locations? We have a bunch and they're like mini-DMV's. For certain things you have to go the a real DMV but the Express places can handle most paperwork. Usually they're not as crowded too.

But I love my local DMV. They hold the convenient hours of 10AM-4PM and are closed Sat/Sun/Mon.
