Shipping Company
Since we don't have VIN#'s to track, would you have a web site or name of the shipping company to see if we can track the ships. (seriously). Also any idea if it is Los Angeles Port or Long Beach?

I believe Nissan still ships cars to Jacksonville, FL. The port authoritys web site post ships coming into the port and they have several ships coming in with the cargo listed as autos. However, Toyota and a few others ship cars to Jacksonville. The site also list the shipping company so if we knew who Nissan uses we may be able to track shipments and figure out when yjey may be in.
An East Coast port does make sense, especially for autos manufactured in Europe that are imported to North America. But Nissans European plants don't seem to be producing cars bound for the US. It would also make sense for Nissan as an outbound port for the Smyrna plant, thought I don't think they make any models for export from that plant.
If it's cost effective for Nissan to use ships to get Z's from Japan to the East Coast, I'm sure they will do it. I wasn't able to find a shipping schedule for Yokohama; just one for Port of LA, which has inbound information for the ships I have noted, coming from Yokohama.

My dealership (No I don't believe everything they say) said their cars from Japan come into Jacksonville, FL. I asked them if I could pick the car up at the port, they said no. But they were convinced that the east coast Z's would be shipped to Jacksonville, not to CA and then on trains to east coast.
Well folks I found out that NYK Lines has numerous ships going from Yokohama to Jacksonville, Fl Looks like transit time is 21 to 25 days. This carrier is a Roll On Roll Off carrier and ships lots of cars. I found the name of the line thru a picture on the Jaxport website, It showed a picture on an SUV being driven off a ship with the NYK Lines name on it. I think the SUV was a Pathfinder. Then I looked at the NYK Lines website and found the search engine for their shipping schedule.
FYI in FY 2001 approximately 580,000 autos were received in Jacksonville.
Here is a link to their schedule

They have ships arriving in Jacsonville almost every 2 -3 days.
